Back in 2001, after the release of “Digital Bullets,” RZA started developing a movie based on his alter-ego character Bobby Digital. The project went pretty far in development stage including creation of concept art, rough scripts and even video footage but was ultimately scrapped due to RZA’s heavy production schedule. But RZA has recently revealed to Billboard that Bobby is back.
“I found the old films, the old artwork, everything,” he says. “They’re low-budget films, but they’ve got a vibe to them and I think they offer the hip-hop community something. When I was first doing it, it felt
like I could’ve had a bigger budget, but now it feels like a classic.”
Now that the RZA is immersing himself with multiple film projects (see related) and has developed the major Hollywood connections, everything is in place for Bobby Digital to come to life. Early indications are that once RZA completes his martial arts film and scoring Babylon A.D., he will then focus his attention to the Bobby Digital film and further developing the character through comic books as well.
