Nelly has just recorded a new single called “Warrior” exclusively for Team USA and AT&T as part of the official Team USA Soundtrack.¬† Nelly talked about his single and why he chose the name. “The track “Warrior”, these reason I think that it plays a part in this is because of the intensity, and the Olympics is all about being that warrior, it’s all about bringing that mentality to it, that kill or be killed mentality, even though it’s friendly games and all that, but it’s the biggest event for the world.“

The Olympics board and Team USA have always been known to be conservative for the most part so the fact that they include artists like Nelly shows how powerful the hip-hop influence has become. As part of the promotion with Team USA and AT&T, Nelly’s new song will be available for viewing and download at the AT&T site here. Other urban artists on the soundtrack include Queen Latifah and Chris Brown. Kick-off for this week’s Summer Olympics in Beijing begins this Friday.
