50 Cent has been getting a lot of press due to his recent string of successful branding ventures outside of music. But as Forbe’s and others in the business know, 50 isn’t anything without his marketing and business team. It’s the team behind “the man” that often separates those who make it and those who quietly slip away. No person knowns this more than Sean “Diddy” Combs in his recent quest to become a mainstream Hollywood actor. WoooHa, Inc. takes an exclusive look into Diddy’s Hollywood Dream Team that is charged with the responsibility of turning the hip-hop mogul into a bona fide Hollywood big-screen star.
The Film Agent: William Morris Agency – George Freeman
In 2006 Diddy signed to agency powerhouse William Morris for all music and concert representation. However, William Morris was left without representing Diddy for any film or TV projects. At that time the smaller Endeavor Agency helped Diddy break into Hollywood for his role in Monster’s Ball and the Direct-to-DVD Carlito’s Way: Rise to Power. When Diddy went public with his intentions to take over Hollywood in March 2008, he dropped Endeavor to sign with William Morris and big time agent George Freeman. Diddy felt if he wanted to be taken as a serious actor then he needed a fresh start and an agent who was well respected in Hollywood. Freeman currently represents high-profile actors such as Russell Crowe, Scarlett Johansson, Dennis Quaid and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
The Acting Coach: Susan Batson
Susan Batson is the most renowned “acting coach to the stars” in the industry with a client list that includes Nicole Kidman, Tom Cruise and Jennifer Connelly. She was also the one responsible for fine-tuning Jaime Foxx’s acting skills to straight-up Oscar worthy in Ray. So how did Batson take it when she was asked to coach Diddy the fine art of acting for the TV movie A Raisin in the Sun? “Sean I could teach because the man has integrity, is very, very gifted, and is very smart.” Batson told NY Magazine. “You have to have talent. Otherwise I really can‚Äôt work with you.
Film Management: The Safran Company – Peter Safran
While Diddy still maintains his music management relationship with The Firm, Diddy hired a separate management team to handle his day-to-day management details through The Safran Company run by founder Peter Safran. Safran is another important part of the Diddy Hollywood Dream Team thanks to his much respected name in the business as a manager and film producer. While Safran represents other actors including David Schwimmer, Djimon Hounsou and Nia Vardalos, Diddy is the key to Safran’s future success.
So every time Diddy takes American Airlines to fly to Los Angeles, you can bet he is busy trying to get his Hollywood career to take off and that one of his team members is not far behind. Armed with his new agent, manager and acting coach the future looks like it could be bright for West Coast Diddy. If all else fails, well at least Kim Porter and the twins are here as well. Diddy is filming the next season of “Making the Band” for MTV and his VH1 show “I Want to Work For Diddy” is currently on air. Next in store for Diddy is another reality MTV show called “Diddy Presents: Starmaker” and he is currently exec producing the B.I.G. biopic Notorious.

Ah Woooha strikes again. Basically this is saying that Diddy has no excuse if he doesnt make it in the movies because he has the best of the best. After reading this I actually hope he makes it.
Why doesn’t he create/ produce his own drama/ sitcom instead of these wacky reality shows?
WMA has Diddy on lock with music and theatrical representation. Is it good to put all your eggs in one basket? I don’t know if Diddy can make it big. I thought his acting was decent but he’s no action star like he wants to be.
Woooha does it again! Great article.
what would life be without Diddy?
Thanks Diddy! Make us proud in hollywood!
