Jay-Z has already ruled the hip-hop music world, the fashion world, and is a global icon. What else is there for him to do? What about take over the Broadway musical world? The New York Post’s Michael Riedel reports Jay-Z is in talks to endorse an off-Broadway stage production called Fela. This endorsement could vary from Jay-Z just giving his stamp of approval to the musical or even possibly investing in it.
“Let me put it to you this way,” an anonymous source told Riedel. “If Jay-Z starts talking up the show anywhere, there are going to be a lot of people outside the theater every night.”
It’s no secret that Jay-Z’s influential power and endorsement would be worth millions. We all know if he endorses this musical and it does well, the rest of the hip-hop mogul crew will be lining up on Broadway looking for their piece of the pie. 50 Cent presents “Hair Spray”…it could happen.
The official “Fela” synopsis as follows:
In this new musical, directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Bill T. Jones with a book by Jim Lewis and arrangements by Aaron Johnson and Antibalas, audiences are welcomed into the extravagant, decadent and rebellious world of Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti. Using his pioneering music (a blend of jazz, funk and African rhythm and harmonies), Fela! explores Kuti’s controversial life as artist, political activist and revolutionary musician. Featuring many of Fela Kuti’s most captivating songs and Bill T. Jones’s imaginative staging, this new show is a provocative hybrid of concert, dance and musical theater.

I heard good things about this too. If Jay wanted to help out he should. But he shouldnt do it just for the money.
[...] Jay-Z looking into the Broadway musical business [...]
Nice I wrote about this somewhere but yeah it would be a good look, but it is a very good play, if you go see it, you will like it, I mean it is a really nice play, I know people that have seen it 5 or 6 times, it is a nice play and there is a lot of interest to bring it to Broadway, but it is a real play, meaning that it is not something that is cute or anything like that, Fela was a musical genius, and believe me his style is his style, and all you have to do is go to YOU TUBE and look up FELA and you will see him in all his glory, he is terrific, but the play is heavy and it is real deep not for the faint of heart
