Ne-Yo is set to star in, exec produce and write the soundtrack for the upcoming Fox film Venice Beach. Movie is apparently based on Ne-Yo’s own life but takes place in the more commercial friendly confines of Southern California beach cities (ahem The Hills, Laguna Beach, etc.)
Movie is about an 18-year-old Manhattan Beach girl who is an aspiring singer.¬† When her older sister dies in a car accident she quits singing until she meets a musician-singer, Ne-Yo of course, from rival beach city Venice Beach. Of course a romance between the two helps launch their music careers but their relationship is met with resistance from his friends and her family. Ooooh…it’s Manhattan Beach vs. Venice Beach!
Music director Paul Hunter is in talks to direct the film and is best known for music videos with Eminem, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears and Marilyn Manson.
