Put the Guitar Hero and Rock Band down. Yes we know we said that last time with the announcement of the video game DJ Hero, but now the competition has just been announced in the form of Scratch: The Ultimate DJ. While DJ Hero focuses on mixing and mash-ups, Scratch will focus on the ultimate hip-hop skill of record scratching. Even the video game turntable “scratch deck” is designed by Numark and the game is backed by Quincy Jones III. Pick from a variety of DJs as you go climb the ladder to DJ greatness. The game is due for a Spring 2009 release. (Source)
“We are thrilled to be teaming with 7 Studios and Quincy Jones III to release a cutting-edge game that captures the vital energy of hip-hop culture”, said Trevor Drinkwater, President and CEO of Genius Products. “We’re confident that Scratch will take interactive music gaming to the next level and excite a large and relatively untapped fan base.”

Scratch seems to be doing everything DJ Hero should have done. We dont want to mix. We want to scratch.
I hope they have real DJs that would be too good. Like you can pick DJ Clue and get him beat up things like that.
this could be really cool or REALLY bad. Ill have to give it a try though
Or you should be DJ vlad and get yo ass kicked
I’ll probably get this over DJ Hero. Scratching to me is more of a skill vs. just mashing up two songs. Guess it depends on how realistic it is though.
What about woodwind instrument hero?
You can enter a competition to win a copy of Scratch: the ultimate DJ when it is released over at the website for Hip Hop movie “South Coast”
http://www.southcoastthemovie.co.uk/Win.html
‘SOUTH COAST’ is a character driven documentary about how a culture as intrinsically American as hip hop has taken root and mutated in a quintessentially British way in the least likely of places…. its seaside towns.
The film is packed full of utterly engaging characters (as well as bigger names such as Norman Cook, Plan B, Killa Kela, JFB, Stig, Beardyman, Dr Syntax, Mr J, Blackgrass and Elemental) who subvert preconceptions of hip hop just being about bling, gangstas and sexism in every frame.
The film covers all aspects of the Hip Hop scene; music, graffiti, MC’s engaging in freestyle battles, DJ’s, turntablism (cutting and scratching etc.) and breakdancing.
The film won ‘Best Documentary’ in The International Film Makers Festival, and was officially selected for screening at Raindance, Bermuda, Israel, Helsinki, H20 (New York), Black Soil (Rotterdam), De Reel (Australia) and over a dozen others.
