SubscribeAccording to The Variety, Will Smith and Steven Spielberg are both in talks to remake the Korean hit movie Old Boy and bring it to the U.S. Similar to The Departed, which had a strong following in China and Hong Kong, Old Boy is considered a Korean classic made famous for its intense graphic visuals and twisted plot lines.
Movie is about a man who is kidnapped and held in a shabby cell for 15 years without explanation. Suddenly, he’s released and given money, a cell phone and clothes and is set on a path to discover who destroyed his life so he can take revenge. And take revenge he does. If all goes according to plan Will Smith would play the kidnapped man and Spielberg would produce.
If Smith gets the role he will have a lot to live up to. Check out this fight scene from the original movie where he fights and takes out 20+ guys on his own.

Yea I agree with you guys. This movie is way to messed up too for it to translate with Will Smith and Spielberg doing it. They will make it way more mainstream and lose all those parts that made it iconic.
Will would have to have big balls to do this movie and, than the other two movies in the trilogy No Sympathy for Mr Revenge and Lady Revenge, but that Old Boy is one of the greatest films I have ever seen and you have to see No Sympathy it is just as crazy with the plot twist like OLD BOY but maybe a little more twisted, but OLD BOY, I cant see Will doing this movie, would play the girl lead, and how can they flip it, who would play the villain for the movie and everything that goes with that, and the lady lead would have to be black or half black and who would get that part, this movie has been talked about being remade for some time now, maybe they will get it done, but it would be better served not to have people of this ilk (this big) make the movie so it could stay true and be even more shocking..
ummm very dramatic scene , but i dont see the greatness of this scene , the movie while it is good film, to redo would not destroy this” masterpiece” besides if its trash nobody gonna see it anyway regardless of who’s attached to it
