ok i have always assumed celebrities pay companies to do stupid stuff like twitter or update their myspace in order to keep their fanbase feeling involved in whatever incendiary wacky plot they were embarking on next. realistically most celebrities seem to be shy when it come to having their lives watched.

Yeti you bring up a good point there. No issues with us common folks using these net tools but when the press covers the word of celebs quoting Twitter, Facebook, etc even though its not confirmed, well thats when it can get messy. For once I agree with Kanye. I would have had them take it down too.

This situation is actually the basis of one of ways Twitter is reportedly looking to finally monetize: charging companies (or in this case, Kanye) for the right to have an “official” Twitter stream to prevent people from (successfully) impersonating them. I feel like Kanye would be happy to fork the dough over for that.
