According to the Variety, Pharrell Williams has teamed with super movie producer Brian Grazer (8 Mile, American Gangster) to produce the movie Zoom. Movie is about a troubled West Virginia youth who attends a music academy and finds his voice and a place in the world.
To Pharrell fans, that story might sound familiar because it’s based on his own life growing up in West VA where he attended high school and met Chad Hugo…which led to the creation of The Neptunes. Aside from producing the movie, Pharrell will also produce the soundtrack and score as well. No set date yet on when production will start but the movie will be distributed by Universal Pictures. Props to WesGoodlife for the heads up. Pharrell is also working on pre-production for the life-action movie version of Voltron which is set for a 2010 release. He will also be producing the score and soundtrack to that movie as well.
