His hometown of Chicago might not be showing him the love, but Redmond, WA home of Microsoft sure is. Microsoft has already partnered with Common on a Zune endorsement campaign and now Microsoft has called him up again to collaborate on something completley foreign to the software company…a clothing line.
Introducing “Software”…get it? The new clothing line collaboration between Common and Microsoft. In an effort to compete with Apple, Microsoft has aggressively been targeting a younger “cooler” demographic which started with the “I’m a PC” promo which showed celebs, including Pharrell using their PC. The Software clothing collection is also part of this market shift. The clothing line currently consists of nine t-shirts, three which were designed in collaboration with Common who utilized an old school 80′s feeling. Check out pics of some of the shirts and the launch party video which included a performance by Common and Biz Markie. The party was held last week in New York. Pics courtesy of Freshness Mag.

Feelin that first shirt. I would actually get that. Good move by Microsoft to change their image. They were old before. No one likes old.
I’m surprised I like these
A couple of these I would wear so yea it looks like Microsoft is trying to do their thing. Thing is its a 180 from anything previous so it might take some time. Oh and I got the Zune and iPod both newest versions. iPOd takes it with the movies and clips, Zune takes it with the music interface.
Top two are clearly the ones designed by Common. I don’t know for sure but based on the designs I would assume so. The others look more “corporate” to me. Like what you would wear if there was a Microsoft store.

Microsoft has no idea how to be cool. Even though these shirts might be cool, it doesn’t cross over to the computer experience. This will end up being Microsoft bank rolling Common’s clothing line. Watch how many of the people wearing these things own iPhones.
I can still dig em

2nd one gets my vote. I would rock these even if they said microsoft. I’m a hip hop nerd who cares
These designs aren’t actually that bad. I wouldn’t mind coping some of those t-shirts and rocking em. Hip Hop swagger till my last breath.
Haha this is a really sad attempt by microsoft. Making a shirt and having common put it out isnt going to make them any cooler. Like that M@ said – its gonna be apple kids wearin this stuff
I hate all of these. Barf

This stuff is seriously lame. Microsoft should be putting every penny they have into R&D so they can actually put out a product the doesn’t suck. Instead, they’re wasting time with this crap.
And don’t even get me started on Common. Gap ads, shilling for Microsoft? Plus, the new album blows. What happened?
