T.I. launches label partnership with Amare Stoudmire

T.I. x Grand Hustle.
Dayam T.I. looks like a midget (no offense) next to Phoenix Suns superstar Amare Stoudmire and WNBA star Lisa Leslie. Amare and company came together this past weekend to celebrate the new business collaboration between T.I.’s label Grand Hustle and Amare’s label Hypocalypto Entertainment.

Under the new business deal, Amare will develop artists under the Hypocalypto name but all promotions, distribution and management will be through T.I. and Grand Hustle. This seems like a much better deal for Amare as past NBA stars have struggled to find a legit place in hip-hop. From Shaq, A.I., Ron Artest even Tony Parker…none have been able to secure a power house industry partner like T.I.

Although T.I. is due to serve his time in the slammer soon, he has been aggresively expanding his Grand Hustle empire. He secured a long term film production deal with Sony Screen Gems, has a MTV reality TV show and now a new partner to expand the record label with. Amare’s artist named Juice will be the first artist under the new collaboration. Via: Sohh

First look at Clipse’s new Play Cloths Spring 2009 line

Clipse x Play Cloths.
There have been A LOT of hip-hop artist clothing lines launched in the past year or so. From high profile artists such as Andre Benjamin’s now struggling Benjamin Bixby, to T.I.’s AKOO, but The Clipse’s Play Cloths clothing line has also managed to break through. Check out the rest of the collection…

Taking a page out of the Pharrell’s Book of Street Wear marketing, The Clipse have developed a nice marketing campaign centered around a simple web store and web exclusives. Well now Play Cloths gives us a sneak peek at their upcoming Spring 2009 line. Personally I like the way they are going. Not too extreme but it still has style. Something people would realistically wear.

50 Cent launches dietary supplement business

50 Cent x Dietary Supplement Business.
We have praised 50′s savvy business sense with the creation of his film production company Cheetah Vision which enabled him to cut out his G-Unit members, but we will have to wait a little until we can praise his next business move. Although he has a production company, a water, a video game, and a body spray, 50 will be expanding his empire by introducing a new line of dietary supplements. 50 recently stated:

“Right now, I’m interested in dietary supplements. I’ll be coming up with something very soon.” When asked what the name of it would be he replied  “I can’t tell you what it would be called. I’d be blowing the big launch party!”

No word yet on when 50 really plans to launch his supplements and once we find out what they are called we will let you know. I just hope they are not Barry Bonds approved.

Run DMC biopic coming to the big screen

It was only a matter of time. First Biggie, then Aaliyah and now Run DMC is the next in line to get a major motion picture biopic. It was just announced that Notorious writer Cheo Hodari Coker has been tapped to write the screenplay to Bill Adler’s book “Tougher Than Leather: The Rise of Run-DMC — The Authorized Biography.” Adler was Run DMC’s former publicist.

Similar to Notorious, which was actually also written from the adaptation of a book the Coker wrote about Biggie, Tougher Than Leather (not the official movie title) will explore the rags to riches story of Joseph “Run” Simmons, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels and Jason “Jam Master Jay” Mizel and how they ushered hip-hop into mainstream popular culture.

Movie will be produced by Dallas Jackson who is currently working on the remake of The Last Dragon with The RZA and Samuel L. Jackson. You know WoooHa will be following this one very closely and we will have updates on casting, release date, etc. You know we got the hip-hop movie angle covered!

What actors would you like to see cast as Run DMC?
