Mos Def’s “Next Day Air” finally coming to theaters

Mos Def filmed the comedy Next Day Air waaaay back in Sept. 2007 but the movie failed to pick up a studio to distribute it. But now, after two years on the shelf, Summit Entertainment (studio that gave Twilight a chance after other studios passed on it) will release Next Day Air on May 8, 2009. Movie has a Pineapple Express meets Friday type feel and also stars Donald Faison, Lauren London, Mike Epps and is the movie directorial debut of music director Benny Boom.
Life isn’t going smoothly for Leo Jackson (Faison). He still lives at home, he just broke up with his girlfriend and he’s had so many complaints about his sloppy work habits that his own mother is threatening to fire him. But Leo isn’t one to let a few bad breaks ruins his day — as long as he’s got plenty of weed to take his mind off his troubles. But when the wacked-out courier accidentally delivers a box containing 10 kilos of high quality cocaine to the wrong apartment, it sets in motion a hilarious and harrowing chain of events that could cost him his life.

It looked kind of funny until you said Faison Love is in it. Oh well, at least it has Lauren London too.

So THATS what happened to Benny Boom. Cat dropped off the face of the planet after doing his thing with the music videos. What are all those big time former music video directors doing now? No one has the budgets anymore.

Maybe there is a reason this never came out if it was filmed two years ago. Has direct to video written all over it if you ask me. Find this in the $5 DVD bin.

I'm sure Mos Def wouldn't put his money on a dud. Its being released right when kids are coming out of school, and before the Hollywood blockbusters. Should do OK.
