Tupac’s mom responds to lawsuit over Tupac biopic

Tupac’s mother, Afeni Shakur, has released an official statement in response to production company Morgan Creek’s allegations that Afeni has backed out of a deal to produce a Tupac biopic under the Morgan Creek production banner. Afeni Shakur states:

“This lawsuit has no merit. We felt it was important to bring the story of Tupac Shakur, one of music’s most remarkable icons, to life onscreen … We have been in discussions and negotiations with several major studios and production companies, including Morgan Creek Productions. However, at no time did we have an agreement with Morgan Creek.

“Sadly, Morgan Creek decided to take advantage of this situation and attempt to frustrate our project by interfering with our business relationships. We will not be frightened by Morgan Creek’s tactics and we are absolutely confident that the movie will be produced and released.”

Although there are issues surrounding the release of a Tupac biopic, Afeni is confident a theatrical movie about her late son Continue Reading…

The official RIP Ol Dirty Bastard varsity jacket

Ol Dirty Bastard x Para. Man I need to get this. The details on this new RIP ODB varsity jacket are crazy. Streetwear companies Para and Incase teamed up to release this “official” tribute jacket which was originally given to friends and family of ODB and The Wu-Tang Clan. The inner lining of the jacket has a nice image of ODB and even the liner tag is designed like the “Brooklyn Zoo” cover.

Well due to overwhelming demand (ahem…me) the jacket is now on sale for $450. That’s $200 more expensive than my high school varsity jacket where I was a three time letterman in…Math & Social Studies. Luckily this ODB jacket is 200 times cooler…so it’s totally worth it. Buy it at the ALIFE website. More pics of the jacket after the jump and thanks to CtotheJL for the heads up. Continue Reading…

Jim Jones is back but his Nostic clothing line is not

Jim Jones x Nostic Apparel. Remember a couple years back when Jim Jones launched his clothing line called Nostic? The entire collection was based on the then popular design of skulls, crossbones and the whole goth rocker/rap look. But now, Jim Jones is back in the lime light with Dame Dash by his side. He has a new track hitting the net with Snoop, he’s on the covers of magazines again..but his clothing line is noticeably absent.

WoooHa did a little digging and even though Mr. Jones was still pushing Nostic during the beginning of 2008, a majority of the stores that initially sold Continue Reading…

Snoop Dogg x Christian Audigier. Snoop Dogg has been busy making major deals with MTV and Skull Candy headphones but that still hasn’t stopped him from aggressively pushing his clothing line Rich & Infamous. Snoop also recently launched a new collection of tees designed by fames fashion designer Christian Audigier who is most known for launching Ed Hardy. Here is a preview of the pieces which are also available at the official Rich & Infamous site. The shirts features Audigier’s trademark script and foil finishing and some include rhinestones as well. Preview of Dru Hill’s new reality show “Platinum House”

Dru Hill x Platinum House. As we announced back in January, R&B group Dru Hill has reunited and will be recording a new album called ‚ÄúInDRUpendence Day‚Äù and a reality show called “Platinum House” will follow their day-to-day activities. The show was pitched to all the major TV networks and was expected to have been picked up by at least BET, E! or VH-1 but instead every studio passed. This left Atlanta station Peachtree TV to grab the show at a reduced rate. R&B crooner Keith Sweat is actually exec producing the show as well.

Chris Brown film career in jeopardy; “erased” from new movie

Chris Brown x Bone Deep. All the blogs and news sources have been covering the fact that Chris is losing endorsement deals left and right, but now his check book is about to hurt even more as his once rising film career is now in serious trouble as well. Rumor has it that Sony Screen Gems, the studio that is releasing Chris’ next movie Bone Deep, is going to basically “erase” Chris from their marketing campaign.

The crime/action thriller which comes out Jan 8, 2010 was originally going to heavily market stars T.I. and Chris Brown to the urban demo but now T.I. will ironically be Continue Reading…

LeBron James pushes Dr. Dre headphones in NBA ad

Dr. Dre x Monster. It’s no secret that LeBron is a fan of hip-hop. Jay-Z has been actively recruiting LeBron in hopes of bringing him to the New Jersey Nets (where Jay is part owner), and LeBron has also become the unofficial NBA spokesperson for Dr. Dre’s headphone line Beats by Dre which is a partnership with audio company Monster.

LeBron gave his entire Cavs team custom Beats by Dre headphones with Cavs colors for Christmas last year, and also insisted in his latest NBA TV ad that he wear Beats by Dre during filming. The ad has been Continue Reading…
