Snoop Dogg x Rich & Infamous. Just a couple months after partnering up with Ed Hardy designer Christian Audigier for his newest seasonal release of Rich & Infamous, Snoop Dogg is already facing financial hardships with the clothing line. Our friends at SOHH brought up that like every other business, Rich & Infamous is being affected by the recession Continue Reading…
Big Daddy Kane x Scion. We just posted yesterday that Big Daddy Kane had a documentary short called BDK that was commissioned by car company Scion. Well Scion just hit us up and told us the entire documentary is actually online at their official online video site. So check out BDK at the Scion video site here. It’s legit, free and about 17 min. long…and a great look at one of the pioneers of the hip-hop movement.
Lil Kim x Dancing With the Stars. Or is it just Kim now? Either way, here is the video of her first performance yesterday on “Dancing With the Stars.” I know she is getting a lot of hate these days from the hip-hop community but she still looked good. The judges agreed as well and gave her a score of 21 which was good for 4th place out of 13. Hopefully she lasts longer than Master P did.
Big Daddy Kane x Scion. Word of this documentary has been around for a minute now, but with this “unofficial” trailer to the Big Daddy Kane docu called BDK, it looks like it’s finally happening. The real news though is that BDK was actually financed by car company Scion and will be released with Scion’s marketing money as part of their Easy 10 Film series. No word yet on release date but Scion will definitely be pushing this out when it’s time. WoooHa.com reached out to Scion and they stated that BDK is part of their overall promotion to support filmmakers:
Scion is promoting Easy 10 and the individual filmmakers with an Easy 10 Compilation DVD, Easy 10 launch parties and screenings in New York City and Los Angeles, individual electronic press kits, and trips for each of the filmmakers to two film festivals of their choice.
Yeti says: Scion continues to go deep with their marketing towards the urban demo. Ahem….notice the plentiful Scion ads on WoooHa.com. I’m glad they are really trying to do something unique rather than the usual artists endorsement and viral videos. An entire film series takes more effort but it will really get the Scion brand name out there from the grassroots level. Props to SoulBounce for the video.
N.W.A. x New Line Cinema. Back in 1996, New Line Cinema took a risk green lighting a film called Set If Off which featured the film debut of a one Andre Young AKA Dr. Dre playing the role of Black Sam. Since New Line gave him that initial opportunity, Dre has been kicking it with New Line ever since. He signed a production deal with the studio a couple years back and now Continue Reading…
House of Pain x Adidas. House of Pain, yes that “Jump Around” House of Pain has collaborated with Adidas for a limited edition St. Patrick’s Day sneaker called the Campus 80 House of Pain. The sneakers were personally designed by members of the group and are inspired by their Irish heritage. Only 1,500 were produced and will be launched on March 17th in Boston. Diddy x KFC x Popeyes. Diddy must have been bored or really loves his fried chicken to video his own fried chicken taste test. It’s KFC vs. Popeyes. But if you look a little closer you see the real reason he is doing this…to get some of that Twitter publicity.
Yeti says: There is no denying Diddy is up with the internet trends. We have his Diddy YouTube channel and now his I Am Diddy Twitter in full marketing mode. Diddy currently has over 80,000 followers on his account and all signs point to that he will be further integrating his YouTube videos with his Twitter like this KFC one. Why you might ask? Twitter has special “incentives” for celebs to actively Twitter. So the answer is that there is money involved and it is another medium for Diddy to establish his brand. That’s all Diddy needs to know.
Jadakiss x Coogi. Jadakiss was getting heat from mainstream press like Gawker for his overt use of Coogi sweaters in his tribute song “Letter to B.I.G.” Of course to us hip-hop fans we know Coogi and B.I.G. go hand in hand but Gawker stated that Coogi actually paid Jadakiss “tens of thousands of dollars” to plug Coogi in the song and to wear the signature sweatshirt during the video.
Jadakiss quickly responded to these allegations stating on HipHopDX:
“If Coogi came in after the song was already done and wanted to get involved, that’s a different story. If you know anything about B.I.G., he had a million Coogis. My whole time around him, he almost [always] had one on. So that [rumor] is a crock of sh*t.“
Yeti says: It’s been awhile since this issue has come up but everyone familiar with the hip-hop game knows that brands and product placement is all part of the movement. From Run DMC and Adidas to Busta and his Courvoisier. Even if Jada did accept money, well then good for him. Coogi is a natural fit for this video as a tribute to B.I.G.
