Reviews are in for 50 Cent’s game “Blood on the Sand”

50 Cent x Blood on the Sand. The reviews are in for 50 Cent’s second video game “Blood on the Sand” and the general consensus is that it was WAY better than the first game “Bulletproof.” This chart show here from Kotaku shows critic reviews out of a 100 point scale. X-Play loves them some 50.

Although “Bulletproof” sold over a million copies, it was criticized for it’s shoddy gameplay and controls. For the most part though, this time the “Blood on the Sand” has improved on the gameplay but still has its shortfalls. Overall though it’s a decent multi-player fighting game…not so rich in deep gameplay but still kinda fun to watch Tony Yayo actually beat someone up. Check out all of the review details on the Kotaku website.

DMC new host of “PG rated” rap reality TV show

DMC x The Kings of Rap. Darryl “DMC” McDaniels of Run DMC fame will host and produce the reality rap show “The Kings of Rap” which is currently in production. The twist to this reality contest show is that contestants must create music and write lyrics safe enough for a kid to listen to. No songs are allowed to glorify violence, degrade women or use profanity. DMC states:

“There are so many talented kids out there who don’t get heard or don’t get signed because they’re not controversial enough, or they’re too positive. That amazes me. The spirit of hip hop was always about changing the world or yourself, not with a gun or with denigrating or offensive words, but by being effective with your mind. This is a time when everyone is talking about change, and we as a country have the opportunity to make a difference.”

According to Billboard, the show will begin filming in New York and then the producers will shop it around to the various TV networks. It’s good to see DMC trying something new and positive. But it’s also true that controversy is what sells. I mean did you SEE that “Bachelor” finale? Yea me neither.

Nick Cannon movie “Weapons” goes straight to DVD

Nick Cannon x Weapons. Way back in 2007 Nick Cannon was quite optimistic about his low-budget indie flick Weapons which was about a series of brutal, seemingly random youth-related killings over the course of a weekend in a typical small town in America, and tragically reveals how they are all interrelated. Cannon played one of the leads named Reggie and the movie was really supposed to help elevate his movie career.

Instead…two years later….with no marketing budget behind it, Weapons is releasing this week straight-to-DVD. Mariah won’t be happy…but the movie biz is tough stuff. Heck even Slumdog Millionaire was close to going straight-to-DVD before Fox took a chance on it…and it won Best Picture.

The official “NOTORIOUS” DVD art

Notorious BIG x Notorious. 20th Century Fox just sent us the official DVD art to the B.I.G. biopic Notorious. According to the official press release the DVD and Bluray will be released on April 21st and will include an Unrated Director’s Cut which is a smart move if you ask me since we all saw the cheap ass bootleg two months ago (but still paid to see it in theaters later). The art on the left looks like the art used in the theatrical poster and is the normal DVD version while the art on the right is the Collectors Edition DVD and Bluray which will also be packed with extras.

Yeti says: Even if you didn’t like the movie, this is still a must have for hip-hop fans. And from what I’ve seen so far it looks like the folks marketing this DVD know what they are doing. That Collectors Edition art is right on point (the Juicy lyrics are a nice touch) and a director’s cut is a smart move to motivate us lazy asses to buy the legit version. I hope that means more naked Naturi though…a brotha can hope.

Exclusive: Movie Tupac wrote in jail is back in production (not his biopic)

Tupac x Live 2 Tell. When Tupac Shakur was serving prison time way back in 1995 on sexual assault charges he wrote an entire film screenplay called Live 2 Tell. Rumors of this screenplay being turned into a feature film have been floating around since 2007….and contrary to popular belief, Live 2 Tell is not the recently publicized Tupac biopic that his mother is currently in a court battle over.

Live 2 Tell is actually a completely original screenplay written by Tupac and is centered around a drug kingpin trying to get out of the game. The script had been circulating Hollywood since 2005 and shopped around directly by Tupac’s mother Continue Reading…

Lil Kim interview on “Dancing With the Stars”

Lil Kim x Dancing With The Stars. It’s kinda refreshing to see Kim can talk normal and not dress like she belongs on the streets with a pimp. In this interview she talks about how she watched “Dancing With the Stars” all the time…in prison with her cellmates. I find that hard to believe. Next she is going to say they got “The Bachelor” and “The Hills” screening nights in the pen too…while knitting sweaters together and sharing the latest issue of In Style Magazine. Ok I’ll shut up.

Jimmy Fallon & The Roots “Slow Jam” the news

The Roots x Late Night. Yea I know I’m late on this but the folks at NBC just sent me over this clip from yesterday’s premiere of “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” where The Roots are the house band. Check this skit called “Slow Jam The News.” Ratings for Fallon’s first show were fairly strong with ratings 35% over the Monday average of past “Late Night” episodes. Let’s hope he can keep it up…it’s good to see The Roots doing their thing.
