DC however, seems to have problems. It’s not like they don’t try, but those attempts just highlight how out of touch they are. They had Steel (which was camp) and messed up with CatWoman. They just don’t know how and when to leverage diversity.

John Stewart is an example of a missed opportunity. He’s a big league character that has been in the comics for decades. Comics already have more than one Green Lantern and they should have been able to work it out over time. Maybe not the first film but certainly in the follow ups. With this much fan dialogue about multiple Green Lanterns you can bet Marvel would have found a way to make money on all of them. DC takes a high class problem of having too many characters that fans like and just makes it a problem,

They will probably mess up the fact people like both Hawkman and Hawkgirl when looking at those that film and they have yet to pull of something for Wonder Woman if films. same to be having the same problem with women. People might not be nearly has upset if they had not done such a great job with the Justice League series. They really made it all come together in TV, but they can’t seem to translate that positive thrust to the movies in general.

Batman is their big success and that was done by letting someone with great vision do what was necessary to bring it to the screen. They have not duplicated that type of success with other DC characters. One thing is obvious, while Marvel capitalizes on diversity over the next few years, DC’s “single character type” in the movies will begin to stand out and not in a good way.
