Kanye West already starts promoting GURU Energy Drink

Kanye West x GURU. That didn’t take long. A day after GURU Energy Drink announced they have partnered with Kanye West for to push an upcoming energy product (see details here), the Kanye marketing efforts have already kicked in. Kanye, well…really…his blogging staff….posted this GURU ad yesterday.

Since he has an equity deal involved, I’m sure this won’t be the last of it. This is the same guy who can make the ugliest sneakers ever released (IMO) turn into one of the hottest selling and hyped to hit the market. I guess it’s working though because I’m sure 90% of us never even heard of this drink before.

Method Man & Ne-Yo star in George Lucas movie “Red Tails”

Method Man x Ne-Yo x Red Tails. Meth and Ne-Yo have both landed some very coveted roles in Hollywood. They will both be starring in the George Lucas movie Red Tails which is about African-American pilots in World War II who must overcome racism in order to fight for America.

Interesting. I just assumed since it was a Lucas film it would involve Storm Troopers, TIE Fighters and light sabers. Now only if the World War II pilots had TIE Fighters. THAT’s a movie! Red Tails also will star Terrance Howard and Cuba Gooding Jr.

Kanye West launches GURU energy drink

Kanye West x GURU. No not the member of Gang Starr. GURU is an energy drink founded in 1999 in Canada. And like all great things Canadian like….ummmm…..the Raptors….there is a major push to influence the U.S. market. And what better way to do that than to broker a multi-million dollar deal with Kanye West?

That’s right folks. Kanye West can add “Energy Drink owner” to his resume as he is now officially an equity partner with GURU Beverage Co. According to the press release, Kanye will develop an entirely new GURU drink product “inspired by his own artistic vision.” The new product has been kept under wraps but is set to launch later this year and will be fully supported by the Kanye West marketing machine.

“I express myself through music, fashion, art and design and that’s why I am excited to collaborate with GURU; because the brand values what I value, and I can put what inspires me into this new product,” said Kanye West.

Props to the GURU team for giving us the heads up. This should be an interesting business arrangement. Pretty curious to see what this product is going to be. It just leads me to one question though. Hey Kanye….do you like fishsticks?

Common launches cologne w/ Diesel called “Only the Brave”

Common x Diesel. Puff (and now Jay-Z) are not the only ones who can rule the cologne biz. Although Jay-Z’s fragrance deal is getting a lot of the press, Common’s cologne deal with Diesel is still pretty big as well. Yea he might not have a fragrance empire like Jay just built, but Common will be getting some SERIOUS money with the launch of his cologne “Only the Brave” which will be pushed by Diesel.

According to Billboard, “the rapper will be featured in the print and television ad campaign, shot by photographer Platon. He will also perform at selected Diesel stores worldwide, including the Los Angeles location on May 20th.”

South Park features Kanye West the Gay Fish

Kanye West x South Park. Wow. Kanye is NOT going to be happy about the episode of “South Park” that aired last night. It was basically 30 straight minutes of Kanye bashing and insisting that he is a gay fish. Yea just watch the full episode here at the official South Park site and you will get it. But just so you understand this video…basically in the end Kanye comes to realize perhaps he is a gay fish and swims in the ocean to find fish to make out with. Yea. Awesome.

Jay-Z launches fragrance line for Rihanna and Kanye West

Jay-Z x Parlux Fragrances. We thought Jay-Z’s next big business announcement would be a video game licensing deal, but instead the big news is centered around Hova’s fragrance deal with Parlux Fragrances. As part of the deal, Jay has created his own fragrance arm called Iconic Fragrances which will be distributed by Parlux.

The most interesting part of the deal is that Iconic holds the rights to fragrances for Kanye West and Rihanna so now Parlux will be able to bring that to reality. They have plenty of experience with celeb fragrances having worked with Paris Hilton, Mark Ecko and Queen Latifah. Jay-Z states:

“We are excited for the opportunity to partner with Parlux and their management team in the launch of these dynamic new brands. This venture will take what is already a successful franchise at Parlux to a new level.‚Äù

WoooHa would like to be the first to submit a name for Kanye’s cologne: Ego.

Rick Ross’ “Deeper Than Rap” short film

Rick Ross x Deeper Than Rap. Here it is ladies and gentlemen. The 7 min. short film produced by Rick Ross the big boss himself. After all the internet hype I was hoping for a little bit more…like a free pair of Air Yeezy’s for watching this whole thing.
