Drake Re-release “So Far Gone” to Retailers

Drake’s mixtape So Far Gone will be repackaged for an offical re-release to retailers on September 15th according to MTV. The album will feature an unreleased song “Fear, which will serve as the transition from his mixtape to Thank Me Later. According to Drake, the last line of “Fear” will be the first line heard on his debut.

“I did this song that no one has ever heard before, ever,” he explained. “[It's] a song called ‘Fear.’ I recorded it when I did So Far Gone ‚Äî the first verse and half of the second verse I had gotten through. But then I just stopped because it was getting eerie. It was getting where I didn’t know if I could [finish it]. And then the other night I had a moment and I finished the song. That’s gonna be the last song on the retail [version of] So Far Gone. And the third verse transitions into Thank Me Later. So the last line of the third verse is gonna be the first line on my album.”

Seems like the label wants to test Drake’s commercial success, the issue is will people buy the re-release that they already downloaded for free just for one new song?

PICS: Def Jam To Release “The Blueprint Collector’s Edition”

Seems like Def Jam Records has a vendetta against Jay-Z for leaving the label. Def Jam revealed today that they intend to re-package 2001′s Blueprint album along with 2002′s Blueprint 2 titling it The Blueprint Collection. Included with a collectors item poster the combined album package will sale for a discounted priced. Def Jam sets to release The Blueprint Collector’s Edition on September 8th, three days before The Blueprint 3 which releases September 11th on Atlantic Records. Should this be taken personal or is it just a smart business move which will confuse consumers on which Blueprint to buy.

Could this possibly hurt Jay-Z’s record sales or will people boycott the Def Jam release?

Props: Rap-Up For the album cover.
