Apparently the recent news that Beyonce will be creating a fragrance line in a $20 million dollar deal is not happy news for all. Abercrombie & Fitch, the famed clothing line for frat boys across the country, announced that they are suing Beyonce because plans to release the fragrance line under her Sasha Fierce name will cause confusion with Abercrombie’s existing fragrance called “Fierce.” Billboard has the more professional verbiage:

In a federal lawsuit filed on Tuesday in Columbus, Ohio, Abercrombie claims a fragrance under the singer’s “Sasha Fierce” label “poses a likelihood of confusion” with the retailer’s own “Fierce” brand. It said such confusion could deprive it of control over a trademark it has used since 2002, and perhaps cost it sales. The lawsuit seeks to halt potential trademark infringement, unfair competition and deceptive trade practices.

Beyonce’s team, including Daddy Knowles, had no comment about the lawsuit. “Fierce” is a big part of Abercrombie’s tactics though as they even admit they spray all their clothes with it so people leave “smelling Fierce.” Lame. But maybe that’s better than leaving the store smelling like “Sasha Fierce.”
