Since the death of Michael Jackson, and let’s be honest, since the moment Disney pulled it from their theme parks, rumors have been swirling around about the possibility of bringing Captain Eo back to the Disney theme parks. The 17-minute short film was created in 3D and cost a hefty $17 million to make…yet for many (like us here at WoooHa…I’ve personally seen it at least 10 times) it was the highlight of our Disneyland trips. The rumor was that Disney would go back and re-do the aged special effects in the film and relaunch the original version with enhanced special effects. It looks like for now it’s not going to happen but Disney president Bob Iger says not to give up hope…
“There aren’t plans to bring back ‘Captain EO’ at this time,” Iger said at a news conference. “We are looking at it. It’s the kind of thing that, if we did it, would get a fair amount of attention and we’d want to make sure we do it right.”
So Captain Eo fans, the possibility is not 100% dead but it looks like you still will have to put up with Honey I Shrunk the Kids for just a little longer. For nostalgic purposes I leave you with the original Captain Eo poster and a clip from the best part of the movie. Via: SlashFilm

I haven’t been to Disneyland in over 10 years. This might be incentive enough for me to take a trip back.
I went to see this in 1987 at Disneyland. Waited in line over an hour. I think this was the first performance Michael thrust his hips.
They should just put it on DVD instead of making people travel to the parks.
i saw this everytime i west to the d-land growing up. bring it back please!
