Disney says relaunch of “Captain Eo” is possible

Disney says relaunch of “Captain Eo” is possible

Since the death of Michael Jackson, and let’s be honest, since the moment Disney pulled it from their theme parks, rumors have been swirling around about the possibility of bringing Captain Eo back to the Disney theme parks. The 17-minute short film was created in 3D and cost a hefty $17 million to make…yet for many (like us here at WoooHa…I’ve personally seen it at least 10 times) it was the highlight of our Disneyland trips. The rumor was that Disney would go back and re-do the aged special effects in the film and relaunch the original version with enhanced special effects. It looks like for now it’s not going to happen but Disney president Bob Iger says not to give up hope…

“There aren’t plans to bring back ‘Captain EO’ at this time,” Iger said at a news conference. “We are looking at it. It’s the kind of thing that, if we did it, would get a fair amount of attention and we’d want to make sure we do it right.”

So Captain Eo fans, the possibility is not 100% dead but it looks like you still will have to put up with Honey I Shrunk the Kids for just a little longer. For nostalgic purposes I leave you with the original Captain Eo poster and a clip from the best part of the movie. Via: SlashFilm

Ne-Yo will fight aliens in “Battle: Los Angeles”

Ne-Yo will fight aliens in “Battle: Los Angeles”

The battle against aliens in Los Angeles will soon begin. No I don’t mean illegal aliens…I’m talking dirty dangerous ones from outer space. And it will be up to Ne-Yo and Aaron Eckhart to save the city in the upcoming movie Battle: Los Angeles. Ne-Yo is set to play a corporal in the film and Eckhart as the leader of a platoon struggling to fight against the aliens on the streets of L.A. Michelle Rodriguez portrays another corporal, and Bridget Moynahan will play a veterinarian.

“We are doing our best to do something that hasn’t been done before,” director Jonathan Liebesman, told MTV News. “This is like ['Bourne Supremacy' director] Paul Greengrass got a camera, saw some aliens and shot it from the point of view of a platoon. It’s literally like ‘Black Hawk Down,’ if there were aliens in there. Like Iraq war footage, but with aliens running around.”

The only real question is…if Ne-Yo is playing a corporal does that mean he does not get to wear one of his many cool fedora’s or will we actually see his balding Sam Cassell head on the big screen?

MJ’s “This is It” in theaters for 2 weeks; pre-sale tix selling

MJ’s “This is It” in theaters for 2 weeks; pre-sale tix selling

Sony wants you to think this is going to be a big deal. Taking a page out of the Disney Hannah Montana movie (yes second time I have referenced this movie now) playbook…Sony will be showing This Is It for a two week limited engagement only. As a result, Sony’s marketing efforts will be built around the pre-sale of tickets on the official website. The reality? If it does well in theaters there is no way Sony will pull the plug after just two weeks. Mark my little WoooHa words…they will keep “extending” the movie in theaters until it is finally played out. Still worried? Well then check out the site where you can get info to buy your pre-sale tix now.
