DJ AM x DJ Hero. DJ AM was a big supporter of the upcoming Activision game DJ Hero including his work remixing a handful of tracks for the game and for filming a series of promo videos stressing the importance of the DJ. With the passing of AM, Activision is suddenly placed in the awkward position of what to do with AM’s marketing material. In a tasteful move, the home page of DJ Hero pays tribute to the fallen DJ and they will continue to push (but not exploit) AM’s involvement in the game. Activision had the following official statement:
We are deeply saddened by the loss of DJ AM, who was a tremendous talent, a trusted partner and friend to DJ Hero. Our thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family. AM was instrumental in the making of DJ Hero and we hope that his work on the game will be a fitting tribute to his creative spirit and musical talent.
Here is the current promo vid of AM that Activision will continue to use in their online marketing campaign along with a couple of the tracks he remixed for the game. RIP DJ AM.

RIP
“AM was instrumental in the making of DJ Hero and we hope that his work on the game will be a fitting tribute to his creative spirit and musical talent.” – read between the lines and this says “The death of DJ AM is a huge publicity hook for us and there is no way in hell we would stop using him to market our game.”
I think they doing it right though – they are not stuffing it down our throats (no homo) but making it a part of the campaign still because he was a big part before. He was one of the first to push DJ HERO so it still does make sense.
Yea I don’t see anything wrong with it earlier just because DJ AM was a major part of the original concept of the game and helped from the beginning.
