Actor/producer/director Michael Rappaport made a name for himself in Hollywood for his signature tough-guy New York accent but he’s also known in hip-hop circles as a die hard fan trying to give artists their proper due. In this interview Rappaport gives a little more detail about his A Tribe Called Quest documentary set for 2010. Q-Tip originally talked about it back in 2008.
“I think this is gonna be the first motion picture documentary done on a hip-hop group, which is an honor,” he said. “…Nas spoke to me a while ago and was like, ‘I want to shoot a documentary on you dudes.’ Michael Rapaport saw us perform in LA and said the same thing, so they combined forces. They basically are shooting it. They got backstage footage. They got old archive stuff. They’ve been interviewing everybody.”
Apparently they even have footage of Phife as they follow him into surgery. Not sure I want to be THAT close to ATCQ but I’m definitely looking forward to this one. Via: XXL
Album trailers are all the rage these days with the labels. CB’s album drops on December 8th. You know Rihanna’s camp will be watching those Sound Scan numbers hoping he doesn’t best RiRi’s week 1 numbers of 180,000 units.
RZA x Victory of Death. RZA will be releasing an art project he has been working on for a very long time this coming New Years 2010. Check the trailer and the website for more detail. No word on exact details of the project although only 360 will be available.
50 Cent x Power by 50. 50 Cent has been in Europe promoting Before I Self Destruct and his Power by 50 cologne at the same time. Here he visits a German talk show host who loves the new cologne a little too much. 50′s expression at about 2:16 is probably the same face he had when those first week Sound Scan numbers came in. LMFAO x Curtains x Pepsi. Seems like LMFAO is every where these days with the corporate promotional deals. Good for them. They have made a nice niche for themselves as wild, fun party going hip-hop guys safe for corporate sponsors. Via: NahRight
