VIDEO: Jay-Z goes iPad-less at the Grammy’s

Yea the Grammy’s finished up tonight and the West Coast is abuzz right now with all the after-Grammy parties. One of the rare funny moments of then night is when presenter Stephen Colbert busted out an iPad to announce the nominees for Song of the Year…even going so far to call out Jay-Z on it.

No doubt Jay will give a call into Mr. Jobs to make sure he gets one soon. And yes…it was a product placement arrangement with Apple as they “loaned” the iPad to the producers for the bit. I still find Lady Gaga’s outfits more interesting than the iPad though.

Nelly plans new male version of “The View” TV show

Nelly plans new male version of “The View” TV show

Nelly x The Nelly Show. Nelly is currently working on a new television show which would be similar to ABC’s “The View” in which the male version of the show would feature co-hosts Jermaine Dupri and Trey Songz.

“Not sure if you’re familiar with the Ocean’s 7 Crew,” Nelly said. “It’s me, Jermaine Dupri, Trey Songz, Johnta Austin, Brian Michael Cox and Tyrone “International” Davis. We’re working on kind of like the male version of The View. We’re working on that.

There have been attempts at creating a male version of “The View” in the past…remember “The Other Half” featuring Mario Lopez, Dick Clarke, Danny Bonaduce and Dr. Jan Adams which lasted from 2001-2003? Check the jump for a clip to refresh your memory. That show couldn’t last as long as the female hosted hit which been on air since 1997.

Could Nelly and crew pull it off though? Show topics can range from sex, video games, sports, relationships, books, and video vixens. Continue Reading…

VIDEO: Pepsi partners up with Akon & Keri Hilson

Akon x  Keri Hilson x Pepsi. Pepsi-Cola International partners up with Grammy nominees Akon and Keri Hilson to create an African inspired track “Oh Africa” to benefit underprivileged African youth. A portion of the proceeds from the track, which will also be the soundtrack for Pepsi’s 2010 football campaign, will go towards supporting disadvantaged African youth. Akon’s Konfidence Foundation and other great charities designated by Hilson and Pepsi will partner in the distribution of funds.

“At present hospitals in Africa can literally make you sicker,” Akon commented. “There’s a lack of equipment and medical care. At the Konfidence Foundation we want to be able to provide access to new equipment, evolve education and improve facilities so kids can be comfortable when learning. The foundation really focuses on children, because the only thing that can change Africa — both its way of thinking and promise for development — is the children.”

The track will be available for download and in stores starting Jan. 31.

VIDEO: 50 Cent explains why female singers are bad for business

We all know 50 Cent is a true business man…and now the cheapness shrewdness of his financial decisions comes to light in this recent interview where he explains why female singers are bad for business. His point of view is a little one-sided since Olivia did not exactly turn out to be the next Rihanna but at the same time he makes some valid points. Spending $2 million on hair and makeup is legit and no joke either…. especially since it probably took $20 for the rest of the G-Unit to get ready for their photo shoots. Five 40 ozs. at $4 each.

VIDEO: Lil Wayne’s new “Rebirth” TV ad

Lil Wayne and Island Records have released this new TV ad for his long-awaited album Rebirth which hits stores on Monday Feb 1st. Ad plays more like a highlight reel though vs. having anything to do with the actual album. Seems like this was done on purpose to focus more on Wayne’s past success vs. the current realities and challenges of Rebirth. That all equals marketing trouble in our book. Via: NahRight
