As Miss Info reported yesterday, Shyne has reportedly signed a seven figure deal with LA Reid and Def Jam Records. Now that the word is out, the online aftermath (no pun intended Dre) has been pretty strong questioning Shyne’s financial worth and if Def Jam overpaid. Seven figures in hip-hop these days is pretty rare…heck in the music industry overall it’s pretty rare.
So why would Mr. Reid and Def Jam be willing to pony up such big bucks for a rapper that just got out of jail, has one full studio album under his belt and who can’t even promote his album in the US? What do you guys think? Good investment or is LA Reid smokin’ crack on this deal just to block Interscope?

Dig this…You know their not giving him that money all in one lump sum..he will probably get a nice advance for his project and the rest if he meets certain conditions and if he does BRICK he will owe all that money in the contract back to def jam anyway..so ya boy L.A isn’t as stupid as you think

but Record Contracts are there so that profits are made..not for the artists to default and be blacklisted from the industry (which I think will happen..so this might not be a smart move for Shyne either)
This is not about first sale numbers, this is about more than just signing Shyne, this is about Def Jam getting a hold on an International star, yes he is, he will be able to focus on other countries, bring their artist overseas, open for every Def Jam artist and Shyne will do crazy numbers, he is home, he will sale in America, people move units and he gets to do interviews on every show you can think of when his album is ready, and he gets to speak about a lot of things, and because he has the rep he had, a seven figure deal is okay, especially if you talking about 5 or 6 albums, 5 albums at 1 million in only 200k per album, if over the entirety of the deal he sales 300k over 5 albums def jam make money
He will sale that on the international market alone, American just will be extra money, he has the chance to be the real first International superstar
