Yea we all know for the majority of up and coming artists, the dream is to sign a major record deal, tour the world and have your face plastered all over the world on t-shirts. Although the net provides a method to get noticed, it’s the money that gets you the marketing and publicity to make it big. That’s where the labels come in and that’s why 360 deals have been all the rage.
But many business critics have been proving the 360 deal a clear benefit to only one party…unfortunately that is not the artist. For a fantastic read on 360 deals check out attorney Bob Donnelly’s article at over at Billboard.com. For any artists fortunate enough to contemplate a 360 deal, this is a must read.

Wow…there was so much that I wasn’t aware about. This would be a good eye opener for a few of my peoples wanting to break into the industry.
Hey Johnny – yea it def is not all it’s cracked up to be. 360 deals are more to protect the labels revenues vs. protecting the artist.
