VIDEO: New clip from upcoming “A Tribe Called Quest” documentary
A Tribe Called Quest x Beats, Rhymes & Life. Actor and filmmaker Michael Rapaport has been working on his documentary Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest for some time now with the promise that it will be ready for 2010. Looks like Rapaport is making good on that promise as he has launched the official ATribeCalledQuestMovie.com website and gives the update that although the film has been two years in the making, it currently is in the final editing stages.
Check this new clip from the film where Ludacris gives his take on ATCQ and how the group has influenced today’s artists and the current state of hip-hop. No release date is planned yet for the movie but it definitely will make its way around the film festival circuit this year.
VIDEO: Beyonce’s new House of Dereon promo video
Beyonce x House of Dereon. Beyonce might be promotional partners for what seems like every consumer product in the world, but she gets her biggest revenue sharing deals obviously from her own company, House of Dereon. This Spring/Summer 2010 promo video is no different. Prepare to get steamy.

Snoop Dogg develops regional specific custom tour merchandise

Snoop Dogg x Upper Playground. Snoop is all about his West Coast roots, but on his current “More Malice” tour he wants everyone to celebrate the block they are from. Snoop is working with the communities he is touring in and local artists to create merchandise authentic to that community.
It’s a nice personal touch to the merch and a great idea. Snoop continues to be at the forefront of innovative marketing without boasting about it. Check the first of these with San Francisco’s Upper Playground “More Malice” shirt. No doubt they will see an increase of sales off the already ridiculously high profit margin of tour t-shirt. You can compare this show to “Lets Talk About Pep” where Chilli is in the same boat as Pepper looking to find love. What’s up with beautiful R&B singers not being able to find a man? Peep the trailer.

Reps confirm T.I. is NOT using his own Twitter account

T.I. x Twitter. Fans across the globe were going loco over the fact that T.I. officially opened a “verified account” @tip with Twitter shortly after serving his prison sentence. Even his girl Tiny was all about it. After Lil Wayne’s recent Twitter push and then news of this, we automatically speculated that something was going on here and that possibly the Twitter execs got their hands on T.I. as well. Turns out we were wrong…it’s not the Twitter execs pushing T.I. to have an account, it’s the label execs. At least they were open about it so we can make sure not to expect daily Tweets from T.I.’s life.
“He’s not into Twitter,” says his spokesman, “but it’s what we use to alert people.”
More like the label will use it to alert people. This just brings up an interesting point though on how effective Twitter really is as a marketing tool. Do people really care about T.I. updates via Twitter through the label? Imagine how much more effective his account would be if it was T.I. who doing the actual updating…at least get a ghost-Twitterer…hottest job in America right now. Via: Rap-Up
