Ras Kass x Save the Ras Kass. Rapper lyricist Ras Kass has been in the hip-hop game for a bit now with some what “iconic” status here on the West Coast. Unfortunately that hasn’t turned into financial success as Ras Kass has faced multiple record label and legal issues in the past. Now, after being released from jail a year ago, he is stepping up his marketing campaign and building it all around “Save the Ras Kass.”
The viral campaign is centered around “bringing awareness to the endangered lyricist crisis” with a focus on quality hip-hop and lyrics. Things kick off with a series of viral videos (check the trailer above)…as well as the official SaveTheRasKass website.

For the business minded reader (people who come here) what Ras is doing for this album is incredible it is tantamount to what some rockers are doing (dude that was a drummer for Velvet Revolver, and other Bands) basically it is a pay for what you want, everything from getting a digital download for $5 bucks to getting Vinyl for like $25 or something that comes with a T-shirt, each level gets more things, until you get to $1200 which basically get you the CD, VINYL, T-SHIRT(S) AND A VERSE FROM RAS, HIMSELF
Not bad so far only one person paid for the verse, but think about it, how much would a verse cost and the visibility of getting that verse, bloggers post his music so having his name automatically adds the buyer to the radar to many bloggers (pun intended)
This way of doing music not only will create a better way for the fan to interact and fund their project but it also gives artist with means to become solely independent
