
Though the music industry has lowered funds for music videos, an alternative to increased budgets has been developed through offering companies product placement in an artist video. Rihanna currently expressed her distaste for them to Britain’s NME, stating:
“I don’t like things to be so commercial. I hate product placement in my videos. Videos should just tell the story of the song. With product placement, it becomes this big ad campaign. I just don’t like that. Sometimes we have to (use products in music videos), for whatever political reason, but it’s never my first choice.”
Hmmm…I wonder how Lady Gaga and Beyonce feel about that with their product placement heavy “Telephone” video. Guess Rihanna will be turning away sponsors for her upcoming tour. Via:contactmusic
