Wow, he was 43? Man I feel old too. RIP.
RIP. GURU. He should have gotten back with Primo before.
Whats so wrong with RIP guru merchandise? It may be material but the point of such merchandise is to keep the memory of Guru and his conscious rap alive. It also serves to expose more people to the wisdom and the groove of his music. Turning a blind eye to the necessity of ‘promotion’ based on some feeling of moral righteousness is self-defeating. The problem in the world today is that great minds don’t get enough exposure while the shallow and narcissistic are more willing to ‘sell’ themselves, which frankly is a necessity if you want attention in a capitalist society. Buy as many damn RIP Guru shirts as you can and give them to as many friends and people as you can find. Let his music and memory live on through COMMUNICATION. RIP Guru. You were loved.
Hey Kurt – I actually 100% agree with you. I should clarify my objection to the RIP “Any Artist” merchandise is when it gets over exploited and countless non-licensed and illegal merch floods the market place. I think that he should be remembered just like any great artist but there is a limit where it reaches pure exploitation.
Yea kurt your right. im actually getting a shirt made right now. if anyone died i liked i would make them a shirt, so thats some bs about discrasing hi death. fuk that writer : 0
Mark – check my response. I agree with Kurt. My whole point is that some people take it too far where it is exploiting an artist’s death to make money…and not for the genuine tribute.
wow kurt g
man that is real yo
never thought about it like that man..right on
