Nas covers Slick Rick’s “Hey Young World” as part of Levi’s multi-artist Pioneer Sessions marketing campaign.

“Nas doesn’t possess Rick’s comic sensibility, but he did inherit from Rick a keen sense for the way precise detail and carefully chosen perspective can enrich a short story, the kind that populated Illmatic and his subsequent work. Nas’ re-crafting of “Hey Young World” is true to its source, though its harder, metallic edges suggest a bluntness caused by twenty-plus years without progress.”

As we previously reported, early test screenings for the upcoming comedy Get Him to the Greek show Diddy with some serious comedic power as many of his scenes have come back as highlights of the film. Diddy gives a little more insight into his role in this latest clip.

Atlanta’s Hot 107.9 claims that Lil Kim has signed on to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation for management representation. According to various sources including the Atlanta radio station, Jay-Z will be handling exec producing duties on her next album. Considering how Nicki Minaj is basically the face of female rap these days it might do Kim some good with this new direction. More details to come.

Drake covers the latest issue of Billboard which hits stands May 29th. The interview goes into detail on how Drake will promote the Thank Me Later album which hits stores on June 15.

Drake will make appearances on late-night TV shows, has an iPad giveaway promotion in the works and a MTV documentary will premiere  the week of June 20. Drake also says that as soon as Thank Me Later is released, he will start working on a follow-up releasing another album less than a year later, “like Justin Bieber did.”

After Drake’s “Away From Home” tour, he will go on a club/festival/radio tour and then head to Europe in July where he will support Jay-Z on a couple of U.K. stops and the Wireless Festival. Drake then will hit Toronto for Caribbean music festival Caribana and is also negotiating a fall tour with AT&T being the sponsor. Whew. That’s a busy guy.
