After Karate Kid blew away the competition this past weekend grossing $56 million in the U.S. and international numbers that are expected to help the pic gross almost half a billion dollars globally, it’s no surprise that Sony is already in talks to film a Karate Kid sequel. According to Deadline, Sony execs are already taking meetings with Hollywood’s top writers to see where they want to take the story for the next installment.
Both Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan have options to star in a sequel so it would seem like a slam dunk for Lil Smith…that is unless he wants to get into TV and remake “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” But there can only be one Carlton. Then again…there can only be one Mr. Miyagi.

naah…I don’t think they’re going to do a remake of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
Good movie but it doesn’t need a sequel. Surely there’s some original scripts Jaden can do.
i agree with the above posting. i think jaden can do more original works; however, if jaden doesnt do the sequel of The Karate Kid then itll be a waste of millions of dollars. i say that because i assume most people still want to see jaden play dre and jackie play han.
Studios see MONEY. There is no way he will turn down a second time with the money he will make and the money the studio will make.
I think Jaden and Jackie should do a sequle to The Kartate Kid along with the other kids picked up at the ending when they all bow to Jackie wanting to leave their former teacher becoming Jackie student and Jaden brothers and classmate over in China while at the same time the former teacher and Jackie have a fight because his students want to learn from Jackie, new bash of villan Shoilin Kung Fu.
