Soulja Boy loses $10K per Tweet with deleted Twitter account

Twitter users might be aware of the anti-Soulja Boy campaign that popped up called #ifsouljaboysarapper where Tweets really rip into Souja Boy’s credibility as a rapper. Some examples included:

-ifsouljaboysarapper then Gucci Mane should become the spokesperson for chapstick.
-IfSouljaBoysARapper than Justin Bieber is actually cutee (Dinaaa(:
-ifsouljaboysarapper then the Clippers will make it to the finals !
-ifsouljaboysarapper then Yungberg aint goin to get chain snatched

The one about the Clippers is particularly hurtful to us since we live here in LA. Apparently the anti-Soulja Boy campaign really hit Soulja Boy hard and he actually deleted his official Twitter account even though he was getting paid a rumored $10,000 per Tweet! Yes…$10K a Tweet. So when Soulja Boy eventually gets back on Twitter and his status updates include “tying ma shooos right now” or “eatinz some mcnuggets” you will have lost 30 seconds of your life reading his updates and he will have gained $20,000. Ah America. I’m lovin’ it.

Hip-hop community upset BET Awards did not honor Guru

TV

People be talking. Although the 2010 BET Awards went off yesterday without any major fighting, stabbing or shooting (although a shirtless Kanye West should be considered a crime), people be talking about how upset they are at BET for no tribute or mention of the passing of Gangstarr’s Guru. So an awards show doesn’t tribute him but the premiere of “Entourage” does? This can’t be right. BET better explain.

Eminem’s “Recovery” now on track for 700K units sold

Original estimates earlier in the week had Eminem’s Recovery tracking at moving 600K+ units in first week sales. Now it looks like Em’s album will really bring a recovery to the entire industry as new projections are going as high as 700K. Billboard states:

Sources now estimate “Recovery” will rack up the biggest sales week for a single album in more than 18 months, as it should sell in excess of 700,000 by week’s end on Sunday, June 27.

If these numbers hold, Recovery will have the best week in sales since waaay back in 2008 when AC/DC’s “Black Ice” debuted with 784,000.

Styles P releases first smokeable CD packaging

Styles P made a name for himself with The Lox and D-Block, but it was his single “Good Times (I Get High)” that really put him on the mainstream map. His ode to smoking out was a huge commercial hit back in 2002 so it’s no surprise that Styles P would be the first hip-hop artist to come out with a smokeable CD wrap packaging for his album Invincible.

“It’s like the cellulose wrap, that clear see  through s**t. Smoke in consideration, big brotha,” Styles P. told AllHipHop.com. “It’s just in case you run out and you f**ked up. You know what I’m saying? You can go to that.  Keep that in the cut.”

Now before you go buy the album and start lighting up please be aware that anything you light on fire and smoke is technically “smokeable” and Styles P himself says “smoke in consideration.” Regardless, it’s a creative marketing hook and if someone does smoke it please let us know. Maybe it should come with a coupon for some Taco Bell too. Album is available for purchase at the official Styles P site.
