Kevin Durant covers EA’s “NBA Elite 11″ video game

The video game formerly known as EA’s “NBA Live” takes on a new name and a new image as “NBA Elite.” The cover boy for this revamped franchise is none other than OKC Thunder sensation Kevin Durant. Considering the competition over at NBA 2K landed Michael Jordan on their cover, EA was in a difficult position to begin with but Durant is the truth and will be the face of the NBA once Kobe and LeBron are gone. No word yet on the “NBA Elite” soundtrack but we’ll have the info soon.
Jamie Foxx set to produce mobster drama for TV

Jamie Foxx has been in front of the mic or in front of the camera for quite a long time now in Hollywood. So it was only a matter of time that he started focusing on the business behind the scenes in regards to securing long term producing deals…which of course means another revenue stream for the actor/singer. Word is that Foxx has been busy making deals with networks on shows that he is producing and is now bent on producing a mobster series similar to “The Sopranos.”
According to Deadline Hollywood, Foxx is in talks with multiple networks on a mobster drama called “Tommy’s Little Girl” that he has developed and even cut a trailer to that features Selma Blair and some ex-Sopranos. Project is being financed privately but it’s all about Jaime Foxx pitching shows these days. As anyone including the likes of Will Smith, Queen Latifah and Ice Cube can tell you, the real long term money in Hollywood is behind-the-scenes as a producer. Easier said than done to make it though. Let’s hope the best for Mr. Foxx.
MUSIC VIDEO: Xzibit – “Hurt Locker”
No EOD teams defusing bombs in Iraq but Xzibit still manages to bring some major heat in his new video “Hurt Locker.” Single brings it back to the hard core days of the 90s so it’s nice to see things a bit more back to the grittiness.
Drake #1 for the week selling 463K
Official SoundScan numbers are in compliments of HitsDailyDouble and to no ones surprise Drake is #1 selling almost half a million units of Thank Me Later…462,989 to be specific. Considering the genre, it’s hard to believe that half a million hip-hop fans out there still actually buy physical CDs.
Regardless, it’s a fantastic number for Drake who had to live up to HUGE expectations. Now he can celebrate some more as his album will be the highest selling debut album of the year so far.
Mountain Dew kicks off “Green Label Tour” w/ The Cool Kids

If you remember a couple years back, Mountain Dew launched a “virtual” record label highlighting some of the newest and brightest talent across all genres. The Cool Kids were part of this promotion including and will now kick off Mountain Dew’s 2010 “Green Label Tour” starting in Boston this Thursday (see “Insider look at The Cool Kids deal with Mountain Dew“).
Although Jermaine Dupri’s TAG Records experiment was an epic fail, consumer product companies have the cash and marketing dollars that no major record label has these days. So far the Green Label has been a strong partnership with The Cool Kids as they get the tour support and marketing exposure necessary to have a true shot at success.
Method Man & Red Man “Def Jam Rapstar” viral video
Meth and Red filmed this viral video for “Def Jam Rapstar” during their E3 Convention promotional appearances in Los Angeles last week. Def Jam’s previous strategy was to use up-and-coming artists to push the “inspiration” of becoming a “Def Jam Rapstar” but now Meth and Red challenge if you even have what it takes.
