Kanye West’s Twitter account gained 80 followers per second

As we reported earlier, Kanye finally jumped on the Twitter bandwagon yesterday and the fan response has been overwhelming. In just a little over a day, Kayne’s @kanyewest account had over 190,000 followers and at one time yesterday was generating over 80 followers per second.

“yeah…. we getting about 80 FOLLOWERS A SECOND no exaggeration!!!” stated Kanye on his Twitter account.

Even though he’s coming in a little late to the game, no doubt that Twitter is making it worth Kanye’s time. Although it’s not confirmed, other artists and celebrities allegedly can make over $10K per Tweet. Kanye must have finally been happy with his final deal with Twitter during his visit to the Silicon Valley.

Diddy covers VIBE Magazine (Aug/Sept 2010 issue)

Diddy and his new posse of artists cover VIBE’s 15th annual “Juice” edition. Too bad even with all of Diddy’s added hype, Rick Ross’ Teflon Don couldn’t knock off Eminem from #1 on the charts. Ross’ last three albums all debuted at #1…before Diddy got involved in his business. Just sayin.

Common cast as railroad slave in AMC pilot “Hell on Wheels”

Although Common received mixed reviews for his first leading role in a film with Just Wright, looks like it was just good enough. AMC, the cable network that created the hit show “Mad Men,” officially confirmed today that Common has been cast in the period drama “Hell on Wheels.” Show is centered around  the building of the Transcontinental Railroad in the West. According to DHD, Common will play Elam, a newly freed slave who comes west seeking work on the railroad and his place in the world but as a half black, half white man he does not completely belong to either world.

“Common brings a layered intensity to a very complex role,” AMC’s SVP programming Joel Stillerman said. “This part required someone who can transcend the stereotypes of the period and bring the character to life in a truly unique way, and he brings that.”

The show is set to begin production in August in Alberta, Canada. No official air date has been announced yet. If the show does get picked up by AMC after the pilot episode, it would be Common’s first regularly appearing role in a TV show.
