RZA is quietly building up his movie directing prowess to new levels. First he lands his first directing gig with the backing of Eli Roth and Quentin Tarantino in the martial arts flick The Man With The Iron Fist, and now RZA recently revealed that Academy Award Winner Russell Crowe will have a large role in the flick.
“I won’t spoil it for you, but Russell’s gonna be the baddest man alive…That man is in fighting shape. That man will knock you out,” RZA told E Online.
Universal Pictures is backing the film with a $20 million budget which is plenty for a martial arts film that takes place in feudal China. RZA also has a large role in the film as a “weapons making village blacksmith.” What Russell and RZA are doing in old China we have no idea. But we do know they are gonna kick some ass. While the news of Crowe taking on this role might be a surprise to some, word is that Crowe and RZA formed a friendship during the filming of American Gangster. The Man With the Iron Fist is currently in pre-production and set to begin filming on location in China and other various parts of Asia. Wu-Tang!

Interesting choice … Crowe hasn’t been a big boxoffice draw in America.
