Chris Brown’s “F.A.M.E.” album goes #1

Love him or hate him, Chris Brown can still move some units. The official Billboard numbers came out as Brown’s album F.A.M.E. is officially at #1 selling 270K records for the first week. This is actually a pretty high number for the industry these days and the second highest #1 of the year so far only behind Adele and Brown’s first album at #1. Guess those Chris Brown fans are actually still out there. Who knew???
Ice Cube signs on with Coors Light for advertising deal

Ad Age recently unveiled Coors Light’s plans to take the competition out, specifically Budweiser. A big part of these plans lies in the hands of Ice Cube. No joke. Cube has signed on with Coors to be the face of their new multi-cultural advertising campaign but of course he has the cross-over appeal where middle-aged male Caucasians can feel cool for liking him. From Ad Age:
Ice Cube will appear in ads by Chicago-based multicultural agency Commonground, in which he stares down Coors Light bottles in a battle of who’s colder. The spots hold promise of crossover appeal, judging by the spirited reaction last week by the overwhelmingly white, middle-age audience of distributors, who gave most of MillerCoors’ other new creative only polite applause.
WoooHa definitely will have these ads for all our readers once they are approved. No word on how much Cube is getting paid but safe to say it’s not just in free beer.
Beyonce’s father releases statement after she drops him as manager

Business is business right? Even between father and daughter? Official word came out yesterday that Beyonce has dropped her long time manager (and father) Matthew Knowles who has managed her ever since her early pre-Destiny’s Child days. No word on who will be filling in for management duties. Matthew recently released this statement in response:
The decision for Beyoncé and Music World Entertainment to part was mutual. We did great things together, and I know that she will continue to conquer new territories in music and entertainment. Currently, I am very focused on the tremendous investment that our record label has made in the gospel/inspirational genre of music and on our supremely talented roster of artists, including Trin-i-tee 5:7, Brian Courtney Wilson, Juanita Bynum, Micah Stampley, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Pastor Rudy and others.
Music World will continue its partnership with Sony with Destiny’s Child and UK female group From Above, as well as management. We will also continue to develop the Music World family of labels: Music World Country/Compadre, Music World Kids and Music World Music. In Music World’s repositioning it will not continue its label/management role with Columbia/Sony artist Tiffany Evans.
To those in the industry, the news really isn’t that big of a surprise. Rumors have been running for years that Beyonce and Daddy Knowle’s business relationship was on the rocks.
