It’s official. The new trend in the corporate world is to “hire” rappers and give them official job sounding titles so they are part of the company vs. just signing on as an endorsement deal. Pharrell Williams has just inked the contract that names him the Creative Director for Karmaloop’s new Karmaloop TV which will launch as an actual TV network targeting males 18-34. Pharrell’s job responsibilities include all the creative and marketing vision for the new channel working with a staff that will do the actual work execution.

“Pharrell is, without a doubt, one of the most influential cultural creatives and business minds in America today,” Karmaloop CEO Greg Selkoe said. “We’re delighted and honored that he has joined our effort to create a multi-platform brand that will once again excite cutting-edge youth culture about TV, just as MTV did in the 1980s.”

Swizzy releases these limited edition Kamikazes as part of his partnership with Reebok. According to HypeBeast, the sneakers are limited to 84 pairs and feature Swizz Beatz’s official signature…so probably not smart to wear these in the rain. Only seven retailers in the US will be carrying the sneaker when it drops this Friday, including: Footaction at Greenspoint Mall (Houston), Sportsland (Chicago), Underground Station (Atlanta), Sneakervilla (Philadelphia), Sportie LA (Los Angeles), Jimmy Jazz (Brooklyn) and Dr. Jays (NYC).

While Tupac was in Prison for 11 months serving time for gun charges, he wrote his one and only screenplay called Live 2 Tell. Movie is about a teen pusher who works his way up to become a drug king baron…kinda like a Scarface set in the hood. Well now the public will get to see the film in theaters in the beginning of 2012 as indie studio NStar has just purchased the screenplay for production. No word yet on the cast or how much or little the Shakur Estate will be involved.

Nicole is going to get a major PR boost as she was officially announced as co-host for Simon Cowell’s big music show “The X Factor.” Hope it can help her music sales. 50 does his part as he guest stars in the latest single “Right There” from her upcoming album Killer Love.

Nas still hasn’t won a Grammy (not that it matters), but he can now call himself an Emmy winner. Nas was recently awarded a National Sports Emmy for his ESPN documentary “Survival 1″ which followed two amputee victims of the Liberian civil war who form a soccer team and eventually be came champions.

“After all these years of making music, I am honored to have this be the first award I ever won of this magnitude,” he said of the win. “An Emmy before a Grammy. Crazy [bleep]!”

Sleek Audio announced the termination of the Brand License Agreement between Sleek Audio LLC and G-Unit Brands, Inc. In the press release Sleek states,

“We will be re-evaluating our Wireless Hybrid over-the-ear headphones at a later date. Currently we are working to bring our new, U.S.-made in-ear products to the market,” said Mark Krywko, CEO of Sleek Audio.

Guess Beats by Dre can rest well knowing 50 Cent will no longer be a competitor in the headphone market.
