Pharrell to launch content-driven site aimed at teens

There must be about six different Pharrell clones out there to handle all of his recent business ventures. Skateboard P is no stranger to launching websites as he previously launched the teen site kidult.com and most recently was announced as creative director for Karmaloop TV. Add in his equity stake in Bionic Yarn, his Billioniare Boys Club clothing line…oh and his music and it’s quite the resume. Well now Pharrell wants more with the launch of I AM OTHER, a content driven site aimed at teens. Variety has the story:

The musician and fashion mogul has paired up with branded entertainment producer United Entertainment Group to launch I Am Other as a content-driven property that spotlights new musicians, filmmakers, designers, artists and innovators through online, mobile and retail channels, TV shows and films.

“Stories are their assets,” said Robby Wells, senior VP of strategy for UEG. “I Am Other is about giving them products and experiences that give them stories to tell.”

“The first installment (of I Am Other) is about delivering those experiences through products, excursions, anything that is tangible to a human that can make their life easier,” Williams said. “A lot companies claim they can make the world better. We want to make lives easier and unlock what normally would seem impossible possible.”

Because of his recent appointment with Karmaloop TV, Pharrell plans to leverage his new position to make I AM OTHER a known entity. All sounds fine and dandy but everyone who has ever launched a website knows how hit or miss it gets. Good luck to Pharrell though for trying to make a difference with his endorsements and involvement.

Snoop Dogg the new digital face of Fragrance Rebel website

Snoop is definitely big pimpin’ himself with the corporate endorsements these days. His latest deal is with online perfume site FragranceRebel.com. It’s kind of a stretch to have Snoop endorse perfumes and fragrances but we are pretty sure the pay check makes up for any of that insecurity.

“We could not be more thrilled about the launch of FragranceRebel.com, and working with Snoop on the ‘Don’t Be a Sucker’ campaign was an honor — and really fun,” said Ashley John Heather, CEO of dotbox, the company who developed the new website. “He strongly agrees with us — given the current economy, it’s time for consumers to rebel against overpriced fragrances.”

Check the official site for a contest currently running with Snoop.

VIDEO: Jay-Z just launched “Life+Times” lifestyle site already down

Looks like Jay-Z and his IT folks didn’t account for such major traffic with the debut of his new lifestyle site Life+Times. Although it was working fine this morning, the website is currently down at the same time that major press is starting to blog and write about it. Not a good thing. But at least from the promo video you can see how flashy and nice Life+Times will be. Kanye…take that!
