Exclusive: Dr. Dre endorses DJ Hero video game
Dr. Dre x DJ Hero. Slowly…ever so slowly we are seeing more and more of Dre coming out of the woodworks for product promotions. First his Dr. Pepper ad (shown here) which is currently airing on national TV and now WoooHa has the exclusive drop that Dre is following in the footsteps of Jay-Z and Eminem and putting his full support behind the upcoming DJ Hero videogame.
While there is no official word yet if Dre will let his licensed tracks be mixed on the video game, his support and presence is already felt with the DJ Hero marketing efforts as his signature Beats by Dre headphones are prominently featured on the official DJ Hero website. More details to come….

The Game raps to NBA 2K10 Anthem
The Game x NBA 2K10. The Game has a nice little deal here with 2K as he will be featured as the main artist for the upcoming NBA 2K10. Like all NBA 2K games, the soundtrack will feature a bunch of artists but they usually pick a handful to focus on. Getting someone like The Game to do a custom song is pretty big. Check the song over at 2DopeBoyz. Of course Kobe is reppin’ the West out here and will be gracing the cover.

VIDEO: Warren G battles Whoo Kid on DJ HERO game
At least Whoo Kid admits he is not a “real” DJ in this video. He battles it out against Warren G on the new Activision game DJ HERO. Check the clip compliments of The Koalition.
VIDEO: Jay-Z & Eminem talk “DJ Hero”
Jay-z x Eminem x DJ Hero. The publicity efforts heat up for the upcoming Activision game which is due to release end of this summer. In this clip Jay-Z and Eminem discuss their collaboration and work with DJ Hero at the 3:16 mark. HipHop Blog Hero: Rap Radar
VIDEO: Official Def Jam Rapstar video game trailer
So we got DJ Hero, Scratch The Ultimate DJ and now Def Jam enters the interactive hip-hop music gaming set with Def Jam Rapstar. Unlike the first two games where the user gets to play a DJ, in Rapstar you are…well…the rap star.
It’s basically a glorified rap karaoke game officially endorsed by Def Jam and their roster of artists. Here is the first official trailer featuring the music of Young Jeezy followed by an insider look at the game by one of the developers.
VIDEO: Official trailer to “DJ Hero”
This brand new official trailer for Activision’s DJ Hero is clearly not targeting the hip-hop community and is going for more mainstream appeal. Interesting direction considering the DJ Shadow promo pics and the Eminem & Jay-Z announcement.
Jay-Z & Eminem collab for “DJ Hero” video game (w/ screen shots)
The battle of DJ video games between DJ Hero and Scratch: The Ultimate DJ might be over now with this news. Turns out Jay-Z and Eminem are both putting their weight behind DJ Hero. USA Today has the exclusive (props to RapRadar for the find) and reports:
The upcoming DJ Hero video game just landed two heavy hitters as MCs: Jay-Z and Eminem.
Both rappers are bringing their music to the newest offshoot of Activision’s successful $2 billion Guitar Hero franchise. The game, played with a turntable-shaped controller, is due out this fall for PlayStation 3, PS2, Xbox 360 and Wii (no price or rating yet).
A limited edition comes with the rappers’ exclusive new greatest-hits CDs, possibly including previously unreleased tracks, plus an advanced version of the controller, a DJ stand and metal traveling case. Jay-Z and Eminem will serve as consultants to Activision and the game’s developer, FreeStyleGames.
The complete list of tracks the rappers are providing is still being worked out. Jay-Z plans on including Izzo (H.O.V.A.) and Dirt Off Your Shoulder for sure. Also possible: tracks from his in-the-works Blueprint 3 album. “I have a ton of content, I just need the pipeline,” he says. “I love the freedom of (DJ Hero). I could wake up tomorrow morning with the idea for a song and call the guys at Activision and start working on getting it out.”
Eminem is more cryptic about his contributions. “I don’t want to give away any surprises yet,” he says in an e-mail interview. “DJ Hero will include my music, and I’ll be providing additional material as downloadable content by the end of the year.”
“You are going to get over 100 songs from 80 artists and 80 brand-new mixes that have never been heard before, including one with Eminem and Jay-Z (together),” says Guitar Hero president and CEO Dan Rosensweig.
DJ Hero’s gameplay will be similar to its counterpart Guitar Hero. Here is a first look preview at a screen shot from DJ Hero as well. These shots feature DJ Shadow in the game play. I wonder if you can pick DJ Clue?

VIDEO: Official game trailer to Eminem’s “Relapse” iPhone game
Eminem x iPhone. First the screen shot…now here is the official trailer to the “Relapse: Resistance” iPhone game which will be available on iTunes the same day as the “Relapse” album which hits stores next Tuesday.
50 Cent’s new video game with SHOCKINGLY low sales

50 Cent x Blood on the Sand. There is no doubt that 50 has been flexing his publicity-machine muscle to promote his newest video game “Blood on the Sand.” He did in-store appearances, contests to play against others and tons of publicity. Many in the gaming industry saw it as a clear sign 50 was serious about expanding his empire into the gaming world.
Despite all the efforts, “Blood on the Sand” has sold so little that it already can be found in “dump-bins” across America. According to NPD which monitors game sales, “Blood on the Sand” has only sold 56,000 copies from when it launched in February. In comparison, 50’s first game “Bulletproof” sold over 681,000 copies during the same initial launch window, which is TWELVE times more than “Blood on the Sand.”
The “Blood on the Sand” results are so terrible that publisher THQ did not mention the game at all in their recent earnings reports. Insiders say THQ is blaming the economy and recession but others are pointing to 50 Cent’s waning popularity with gamers and the fact that “Blood on the Sand” was originally dumped by its original developer. Will these results scare off Jay-Z from moving forward with getting into the gaming industry?
PICS: Scratch The Ultimate DJ turntable/controller

Here is a shot of the official controller/turntable to Scratch: The Ultimate DJ video game. The game is in direct competition with the upcoming DJ Hero (a look at their turntable/controller in comparison). In our opinion, Scratch’s turntable blows DJ Hero away. It has a crossfader, free-spinning, touch-sensitive turntable wheel and the true Numark name.
According to Kotaku, Scratch will be going directly after the hip-hop fan as they also have a track list of 52 songs including:
Flashing Lights – Kanye West
Let’s Get It Started – The Black Eyed Peas
Peter Piper – Run DMC
Hot in Herre - Nelly
Milkshake – Kelis
Friends – Whodini
Party Like A Rockstar – Shop Boyz
Don’t Sweat the Technique – Eric B. and Rakim
PICS: First pics of DJ Hero turntable/controller
Here is the first official pic of the upcoming DJ mixing game DJ Hero…from the people that brought you Guitar Hero. In the world of upcoming DJ video game battles I think Scratch: The Ultimate DJ might win just based on how mundane this DJ Hero controller looks.

The Eminem iPhone app is brutal

Eminem x Apple. Eminem’s marketing team should get some awards for everything they are doing for “Relapse.” First the Marvel promotion and now this full blown iPhone game. Slim released this screen shot of the game on his Twitter account. No details yet on costs or release date. From the pic it does look like you play Eminem and beat the crap outta zombie doctors.
50 Cent wants to release another video game

50 Cent sees where the money is…movies and video games. So it’s no secret that he’s been amping up his acting efforts and at the same time has been establishing himself on the video game end as well. His latest release “Blood on the Sand” was rated way higher than his first game which sold over a million units, but now 50 wants to take it to the next level with a sequel game:
“I’m hoping we’ll be able to do it,” Fif said with a grin Thursday at the Manhattan Play N Trade store, where he celebrated the game with his fans. “With the success of this actual project, we’ll try to do it again. “[Fans] said it’s a good video game,” the G-Unit business maven added. “They enjoyed it. I had the opportunity to play with some people online. That was exciting and another way to reach people that are aware of me.”
Video game production seems to be the next hip-hop mogul fad as Jermaine Dupri’s name has been floating around of producing a game and Jay-Z is rumored to be launching a game series in the near future as well. Via: DrewReports
I Want That: Madden 2010 cover

This is the first time that Madden will have more than one player on the cover. Hopefully this is EA’s way of trying to lift the dreaded Madden Curse. Game hits stores on Aug 14th. Friends with The Koalition
Nintendo promotes tagging with WiiSpray
Forget bombing that subway or the side of your gradma’s house. Now you can tag up your girl friend’s plasma TV or your own for that matter. Nintendo has just released details and this video of the upcoming tagging simulation game called WiiSpray…complete with aerosal can Wii remote. I’ll probably buy this and it will most likely end up next to my Wii Fit. Covered in a lot of dust next to my Rock Band, Guitar Hero and 1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr. rookie card. Via: Rap Radar
