DMX talks with VIBE magazine about filming a sequel to Hype Williams 1998 classic Belly.
Belly is still a hip-hop classic. I don’t care what barbershop, what radio station, people still talk about this movie man.
Yeah, they play it on BET a lot. You know how many times I’ve seen it since I been here?I’m saying! It’s on regular rotation now.
And they fucked up with the Belly 2. All they had was the title. Someone bought the title. Got people thinking it’s a part 2 to our movie when it’s really not. It’s just the name Belly 2. But, I been working with a couple of writers man where we can bring it back. A part 2 with a crazy story.Oh really? With all the original characters maybe, hopefully? Continue Reading…

As announced way back in January, Snoop Dogg and Wiz have teamed up for the low-budget buddy comedy High School which is of course about smoking pot back in the high school days. Apparently Snoop has ruffled the feathers of the Mira Costa High School administration as they kicked Snoop and the film crew off campus. The “Daily Breeze” has all the details:
Now two types of dogs have been allowed on Mira Costa High School’s campus – one that sniffs out drugs and one that indulges in them.
The latter, rapper Snoop Dogg, likely won’t be on campus again anytime soon. On Tuesday, school officials canceled the filming of his new movie at Mira Costa and decided not to accept facility use fees for the project.
The decision came two days after Snoop Dogg – the poster boy for pot smoking – and fellow rapper Wiz Khalifa were filming their new movie, “High School,” around the campus.
Several students posed with him during the Sunday filming, later posting the photos on Facebook. A photo of Vice Principal Paula Spence with the rapper also ended up on Facebook, a teacher said.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Khalifa said of the movie, “It’s about pot, of course.”
The teacher, who wanted to remain anonymous, said a video popped up on YouTube showing Snoop Dogg sitting on a desk in a Mira Costa classroom singing a song about having sex with mothers.
“It’s in a Costa classroom. It’s recognizable because of the stuff on the wall,” the teacher said.
The school was originally allowing the filming for a permit fee of $3,000 but the controversy and the weed just have been too much for the school to handle. No word on the next high school that will allow the filming…maybe Long Beach High?
