VIDEO: 50 Cent’s “Ok, You’re Right” Phillps inspired video
Yea we talked about how 50’s new video is actually inspired by a Phillips Electronics short video (shown here) and now here is the actual 50 Cent video. 50 and the director actually worked directly with Phillips to lift video directly into 50’s and they even feature a Phillips TV to kick the video off. Nice product placement. You know what brand of plasma TV 50 is rocking right now.
50 Cent interview about his “Power” cologne

50 Cent x Power Cologne. As we announced a couple weeks back, 50 Cent will be launching a cologne line called Power by 50 through his new Lighthouse Beauty company. Complex Magazine caught up with him during the launch and talked Power…
Complex: What brings you to the fragrance game and why the name Power?
50 Cent: Power translates in every language. It means the same thing. It’s just said differently. I still haven’t been a part of creating, from a business perspective a venture that translates in every market that I’m relevant, away from music. People decide to love American music with a different passion when they’re in foreign territories because there’s a language barrier that they’re breaking to accept it to begin with. Away from that, power is confidence. The confidence to deliver your answer when you’re in a board meeting is what will allow you to move up faster. The confidence to be yourself in front of people creates a separation. The people that you saw speak ahead of me at this event had to read their paper that people prepared for them. I didn’t, my confidence will allow me to do things my way and help people make a decision. People will like the idea of me just being me.
Complex: Do you think your fragrance will sell better than those by Jay-Z, Diddy, and Usher?
50 Cent: I don’t think it matters. I think it will be there as a representative of what I feel like is quality right now. People can decide. The consumers will decide that. If I said something to the likes of me feeling like I would be more successful than those other projects, it might turn some of them off. So I wouldn’t answer that question. I’d leave that to them to judge.
Complex: I just know that you’re competitive with your music so…
50 Cent: Yeah, but not with everything. You can’t be that way. The competitive nature of hip-hop culture has always had battling involved with it. So you battle with the other artist but not necessarily in business and everywhere else.
Complex: What fragrance did you wear before this came out?
50 Cent: Creed and Emporio.
VIDEO: 50 Cent’s new video inspired by Phillips Electronics ad
It’s always good news when you hear about artists and directors planning “out-of-the-box” creative ideas for their music videos. 50 Cent’s newest video to his single “OK You’re Right” is actually inspired of all things by a Phillips Electronics commercial that was used in a little-known marketing campaign. The commercial is called “Carousel” and was used to hype up their new line of LCD TVs.
Chris “Broadway” Romero actually reveals they got Phillips’ permission to use the video for their own. “We actually have a partnership with Phillips where they gave us the rights to take this commercial,” he added. “It was kinda underexposed. They made a great piece but maybe didn’t know how to use it that well so we took it and we just taking it way over the hill with a smash record at the same time and the biggest hip-hop artist on the planet.”
Check out the Panasonic commercial first (which is pretty dang nice) followed by behind-the-scenes of 50’s video. Via: Nah Right
PICS: More new pics of 50 Cent filming “Entourage”
50 Cent x Entourage. Most of you have seen 50 Cent’s photo on the set of HBO’s “Entourage” from 50’s official site. Not hating on ThisIs50.com but it’s amazing how we are able to find even more photos on the set than his own site is. Here are a couple of good ones…and yes…it’s confirmed the episode won’t air until August and it’s pretty minor from what insiders are telling me. Minor as in Kanye West “airport” appearance minor.

VIDEO: 50 Cent’s “Pimpin’ Curly” Vitamin Water ad
50 Cent x Vitamin Water. I guess when you own part of the company you can do whatever you want. Here 50 puts his comedian hat on again as Pimpin’ Curly welcoming Dwight “We Got Beat in Five” Howard to the Vitamin Water family.
Smell like 50 Cent with his new “Power by 50 Cent” Cologne

50 Cent and manager Chris Lighty have just launched a company called Lighthouse Beauty which will create, market and distribute a line of 50 Cent inspired colognes later this year. The first one to hit the market will be called “Power by 50 Cent” and will be distributed similar to other cologne and perfume distribution models…yes that means Macy’s.
Chris Lighty had the following to say about his new venture with 50:
“The typical musician or actor might not know much about developing a fragrance or a skin care line, but he definitely wants to capitalize on his brand potential. After spending years bringing clients to major corporations to forge partnerships, I wanted to take that synergy to the next level by establishing a destination for artists and celebrities to create and distribute their brands from start to finish.
What we’ll do at Lighthouse Beauty is not only transform a name into a product, but also take that product from its inception to the shelves.”
This is not 50’s first time entering this territory. He had a deal with Gilette for the RBX Pure 50 Body Spray earlier last year. Unfortunatley sales of body sprays took a nose dive and so did their deal. Let’s see how this whole perfume/cologne venture plays out though.
50 Cent’s new movie “Dead Man Running” only 154 days away
50 Cent x Dead Man Running. Don’t believe me that it’s only 154 more days? Well check out the brand new website then. It’s just a splash page now but soon there will be more info. If you haven’t heard of Dead Man Running don’t worry. It’s a small indie British film that likely won’t make it to the U.S.
Movie is about a loan shark (50 Cent) who gives an ex-con a period of 24 hours in order to pay back the money he owes. Up against it, the ex-con involves his best mate on a multi-part mission in order to raise the cash before it’s too late for them both.

VIDEO: On set of 50 Cent’s new movie “Caught in the Crossfire”
50 Cent x Caught in the Crossfire. Here is video and pics of 50’s latest movie he is filming called Caught in the Crossfire. Movie is currently filming in Grand Rapids, Michigan and is exec produced by 50 Cent under his Cheetah Vision production company. Movie also stars Chris Klein (yes from American Pie fame) and is about police officers searching out crooked cops with the help of a police informant. The informant of course is 50 Cent.
No studio is attached to the film as Cheetah Vision is bankrolling it and hoping to sell it to a studio. The last time they tried this was Streets of Blood which we exclusively reported was going straight to DVD. Let’s hope this movie doesn’t have the same fate. Check the interview of 50 Cent and Chris Klein here:

50 Cent cast in urban “Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde” movie
50 Cent x Jekyll & Hyde. So what if 50’s movie Streets of Blood is going straight to DVD. As long as the roles keep coming so do the paychecks. 50 has just been confirmed to star alongside Forest Whitaker in a re-imagining of the classic Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde tale. Whitaker will play Jekyll with 50 playing Hyde.
This is one of the first announced pictures that will be produced under 50 Cent’s production company Cheetah Vision. The film will have its own financing partners and then ideally will be sold to a studio for marketing and distribution. If no studio picks it up….well then it’s Streets of Blood all over again.
Does this movie sound interesting to any of our faithful WoooHa readers out there? Or is it straight to DVD again for 50 Cent?
Exclusive: 50 Cent movie “Streets of Blood” goes straight to DVD (w/ new trailer & art)
We have just confirmed with movie studio Anchor Bay that they have bought the outright film distribution rights to 50 Cent’s new movie Streets of Blood. Those in the industry know though that Anchor Bay buys and distributes movies…straight to video. Yes, that’s right. WoooHa can confirm that Streets of Blood is going straight to video and will be available in stores July 28, 2009.
We have been covering Streets of Blood for sometime now. We were the first to break their sales trailer that the producers were pitching to studios months ago. But clearly no theatrical studios were interested. For those 50 fans, you might remember that this is the movie where 50 and co-star Val Kilmer formed a strong friendship…to the point that Val bought 50 a classic car.
Anyways, there you have it. All in all it’s not a good week for 50 Cent news. Earlier this week, sales numbers for his game “Blood on the Sand” were released and they were VERY VERY low and now this news about his movie going straight to DVD. The good news though is that 50 has a bunch of other movie projects coming soon including Twelve and a bunch of other projects in the works. Let’s just hope they hit theaters this time though.
Check the new trailer just cut by Anchor Bay and new DVD art as well. Remember, you saw it here first.

50 Cent’s new video game with SHOCKINGLY low sales

50 Cent x Blood on the Sand. There is no doubt that 50 has been flexing his publicity-machine muscle to promote his newest video game “Blood on the Sand.” He did in-store appearances, contests to play against others and tons of publicity. Many in the gaming industry saw it as a clear sign 50 was serious about expanding his empire into the gaming world.
Despite all the efforts, “Blood on the Sand” has sold so little that it already can be found in “dump-bins” across America. According to NPD which monitors game sales, “Blood on the Sand” has only sold 56,000 copies from when it launched in February. In comparison, 50’s first game “Bulletproof” sold over 681,000 copies during the same initial launch window, which is TWELVE times more than “Blood on the Sand.”
The “Blood on the Sand” results are so terrible that publisher THQ did not mention the game at all in their recent earnings reports. Insiders say THQ is blaming the economy and recession but others are pointing to 50 Cent’s waning popularity with gamers and the fact that “Blood on the Sand” was originally dumped by its original developer. Will these results scare off Jay-Z from moving forward with getting into the gaming industry?
VIDEO: 50 Cent talks about his new movie “Twelve”
50 Cent x Twelve. 50 talks about his upcoming movie Twelve in this interview with MTV. You can also check 50 in pics from the movie here.
50 Cent wants to release another video game

50 Cent sees where the money is…movies and video games. So it’s no secret that he’s been amping up his acting efforts and at the same time has been establishing himself on the video game end as well. His latest release “Blood on the Sand” was rated way higher than his first game which sold over a million units, but now 50 wants to take it to the next level with a sequel game:
“I’m hoping we’ll be able to do it,” Fif said with a grin Thursday at the Manhattan Play N Trade store, where he celebrated the game with his fans. “With the success of this actual project, we’ll try to do it again. “[Fans] said it’s a good video game,” the G-Unit business maven added. “They enjoyed it. I had the opportunity to play with some people online. That was exciting and another way to reach people that are aware of me.”
Video game production seems to be the next hip-hop mogul fad as Jermaine Dupri’s name has been floating around of producing a game and Jay-Z is rumored to be launching a game series in the near future as well. Via: DrewReports
50 Cent on episode of “Gossip Girl”?

50 Cent x Twelve. Although 50 is pictured here with “Gossip Girl” star Chance Crawford looking all BFF, luckily for the state of hip-hop 50 will not be guest starring on the tween girl show. These shots were actually taken yesterday in New York on the set of the new movie Twelve which also stars Crawford, Keifer Sutherland and Emma Roberts.
Movie is about a young drug dealer as his high-rolling life is dismantled in the wake of his cousin’s murder, which sees his best friend arrested for the crime. Surprisingly 50 does not play that specific main character drug dealer. He just plays a different drug dealer. Twelve does not currently have a studio attached to it so no release date is set until someone buys it up. More pics after the jump….
50 Cent book finally coming after two year delay

UPDATE: RapRadar continues to bring the heat. They have an exclusive excerpt from the book.
50 Cent x The 50th Law. 50 Cent’s book with the author of “The 48 Laws of Power,” Robert Greene will finally be hitting stores after a two year delay. The book releases Sept. 9th and was plagued by numerous issues including major re-writes. Greene recently talked about these issues:
“It’s hard to do the business thing with 50 because he’s so exceptional. Like, what are you gonna learn about a guy from South Side Queens who then becomes a hip-hop artist…That version also had other weaknesses.”
I don’t know Mr. Robert Greene but from this quote one might assume that the word “exceptional” actually means “difficult.” Regardless we are looking forward to this book and hope it’s worth the wait. Via: DR
50 Cent takes new movie role; but why did he reject “Expendables”?

50 Cent x Twelve. 50 Cent Curtis Jackson has signed on for a role in the upcoming movie Twelve which will be directed by Joel Schumacher and is about a high school dropout-turned-drug dealer. Schumacher is most known for giving Batman nipples on the bat suit when he directed Batman & Robin back in 1997. Question is why did Curtis accept this role if he allegedly turned down the big action flick Expendables with Sly Stallone?
50 stated he wanted to concentrate on his music…yet he turns down a blockbuster action film for Batman with nipples? Something doesn’t add up here. Oh but WoooHa has the answers. Here is the real reason 50 was dropped from Expendables.
50 Cent Twitter ghostwriter goes public

50 Cent x Twitter. It’s funny how these artists are finally coming out and admitting it’s not them writing on their blogs or on their Twitters. Like Kanye who finally admitted he doesn’t write his blog. Did any of us really believe it to begin with? And if it’s really Diddy Tweetin how freakin great life is and how positive we should be…well he gets the Tony Robbins award for best movtivational speaker.
And now The NY Times is getting into the issue of Twitter fraud as they just ran an article about all the fake celebrity accounts that are currently active. In the article, The Times reveals that 50 Cent also has a ghosttweeter who is actually the head of ThisIs50.com, Chris “Broadway” Romero. The paper states:
“My ambition leads me through a tunnel that never ends.”
Those were 50 Cent’s words, but it was not exactly him tweeting. Rather, it was Chris Romero, known as Broadway, the director of the rapper’s Web empire, who typed in those words after reading them in an interview.
“He doesn’t actually use Twitter,” Mr. Romero said of 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson III, “but the energy of it is all him.”
I wonder what Rick Ross has to say about that. Via: RR
