Big Boi wore some custom Bugs Bunny Air Jordans at a recent show and pics of them had the sneaker heads screaming “FAKE!” It’s interesting how this is a big deal…so much in fact that Big Boi is forced to “confess.”
Big Boi x Funny or Die. Big Boi and his label Jive Records have teamed up with FunnyOrDie.com to release a series of branded Big Boi animated shorts as part of promoting Big Boi’s upcoming album “Sir Lucious Leftfoot: Son Of Chico Dusty.”
The animated series features the voice of Big Boi as King Henry and features plenty of Outkast and Big Boi producet placement shots throughout as well. Early reaction has been mixed but as a marketer I’m digging the integration of advertising and content on this.
Big Boi went on record yesterday with his Dungeon Family crew stating that they are all working on a Dungeon Family movie together. That’s news to me. Also because I had no idea that the Dungeon Fam was still around and on good terms with Big Boi. No word on what this movie is about but once we get details you know we will deliver. Props to B.Dot at RapRadar for the heads up on this.
T.I.’s Grand Hustle management team signed Outkast’s Big Boi last year to run all day-to-day management issues. So it is no surprise that Big Boi was on hand to promote T.I.’s launch of his clothing line AKOO. Check out this new ad of Big Boi showing off the latest AKOO gear which was taken by legendary photographer Zach Wolfe.

Make sure to check out tonight’s episode of “Law & Order: SVU” where Stabler and his posse try and take down a rapper (Big Boi) with a hobby of exporting exotic illegal animals. Check out these clips compliments of NBC¬†of Big Boi getting the heat while in the middle of recording an album.

Since BET’s “Rap City” is now gone, “Law & Order” can take the title as the TV show that helps support hip-hop artists the most. Ludacris, Method Man, Ice-T and the dude from Onyx all have had prominent roles on the show. Now Big Boi can join the group as he has signed on to play the role of Gots Money, a big time rapper with a hobby of exporting illegal animals. The “Law & Order: SVU” episode airs November 25th.
While Big Boi has been busy recording his next album, he also has been keeping himself busy having just landed a multi-million dollar promotional deal with Full Throttle Energy drink (owned by Coca-Cola). This was his first national promotional deal and is a partnership to launch his “Sir Luscious Leftfoot” album as Full Throttle will be paying for marketing and his tour.

The Coca-Cola company has just announced that Outkast’s Big Boi will be the new spokesperson for the Coke owned Full Throttle Fury Energy Drink. With Big Boi on board, Coca-Cola is also relaunching Full Throttle Fury with a brand new look and image, in an attempt to tap the lucrative African-American male demographic. Similar to Nas’ partnership where Fila backed his album release, Full Throttle will sponsor album release parties and a national tour for Big Boi’s “Sir Luscious Leftfoot” album.
“My new album Sir Luscious Left Foot embodies the energy of Full Throttle Fury, where I feel like the body of work I’ve created on this CD will hopefully motivate my fans even more with its high energy and conscious lyrics as I’ve always created in my music,” Big Boi stated.
Full Throttle Fury is currently available in stores nationwide, while Sir Luscious Leftfoot: Son of Chico Dusty will hit stores on October 28. Look out for more of these consumer product promotional tie-ins as labels and artists become more and more strapped for cash and are looking for outside funding to properly promote the launch of a new album. The fact that even hip-hop heavyweights such as Nas and even Dr. Dre (with Drinks America) need that extra promotional boost shows the current state of the record label industry.
