Common set to release his auotbiography, One Day It’ll All Make Sense ,

In One Day It’ll All Make Sense, Common holds nothing back. He tells what it was like for a boy with big dreams growing up on the South Side of Chicago. He reveals how he almost quit rapping after his first album, Can I Borrow a Dollar?, sold only two thousand copies. He recounts his rise to stardom, giving a behind-the-scenes look into the recording studios, concerts, movie sets, and after-parties of a hip-hop celebrity and movie star. He reflects on his controversial invitation to perform at the White House, a story that grabbed international headlines. And he talks about the challenges of balancing fame, love, and fatherhood.

Common makes an appearance on AMC orginal series, Hell On Wheels which tells the epic story of post-Civil War Amercia. He plays “Elam”, a freed slave working on the railroad.

BlackBerry licensed music from Common’s Be album. The instrumentals from Be‘s Intro is the sound you hear in the background of this Style flip phone commercial.

I think Common is one of the few rappers you could believe would actually have a big part in writing his own memoirs. Looks like Atria Books is willing to take the risk as they have just completed a book deal with Common to pen “One Day It’ll Make Sense.” Book will chronicle Common’s journey as a Chicago MC to one of the most well known faces in both music and film. Book is set for a June 2011 release. More details to come.

Here is the official music video to the Chi-Town theme song “We Can Do It Now” which Gatorade commissioned Common, Lupe Fiasco and Jennifer Hudson to create as part of their ongoing “G” campaign.

Gatorade continues to push their “What’s G” marketing campaign and have enlisted Chi-Town natives Common, Lupe Fiasco, Jennifer Hudson and No I.D. to record a Chicago anthem.
