Eminem’s Shady Records signs partnership deal with Lipton BRISK

What started as a simple Super Bowl ad campaign tie-in has now become a full-fledged long term partnership deal. Eminem’s BRISK Iced Tea Super Bowl spot was such a huge hit that both Shady Records & Lipton have decided to extend their marketing prowess. In a recently announced deal, the two companies are set to roll out a series of Brisk and Shady Records emerging artist events, which will lead up to a larger scale live music events later this year.

“The folks from Brisk offered Eminem a chance to write his own Super Bowl spot and the opportunity to enter into a unique marketing relationship with Shady Records,” the rapper’s manager, Paul Rosenberg, stated. “It was a great opportunity to do something creative and fun that we couldn’t pass up. Who wouldn’t want the chance to write their own Super Bowl spot?”

It will be interesting to see how things pan out with this deal in the coming months. We all saw how fast the much hyped Jermaine Dupri x TAG Records deal bombed…but let’s hope this partnership can last longer than a couple of months. Just be sure of one thing…Eminem and his roster of artists will be chugging a lot of that BRISK on stage.

Eminem to star in Lipton Brisk Super Bowl ad

Lipton Brisk Ice tea relaunched their claymation ad campaign a couple of months ago with the movie character Machete. Currently they are continuing it with Ozzy Osbourne and now according to The NY Post, Eminem is set to be the next star to get the claymation treatment for a special Super Bowl ad. There definitely will be more to come as I’m sure there will be plenty of “making of” videos to go along with it. Check the Machete video to see what’s in store for Marshall.

Eminem in talks to star in crime-thriller “Random Acts of Violence”

After nine years, Eminem is set to return to the bigscreen for the first time since 8 Mile. The Hollywood Reporter states that Em is close to signing on to star in the crime-thriller Random Acts of Violence which would be a major theatrical release for 20th Century Fox. HR states:

The project has been in development at Fox for more than four years, and the script reportedly has gone through multiple drafts, with the most recent version said to center on an ex-con just released from prison who is trying to stay on the right side of the law despite pressure from his former comrades. At the same time, the FBI is trying to recruit him to bring down the syndicate.

This could be a huge move for Eminem as it’s a leading role and a major film that would get millions of dollars in backing in marketing and distribution. None of the funny direct-to-video business for this guy.

Eminem to star in boxing movie “Southpaw”

Deadline Hollywood
reveals that Dreamworks has just signed on Eminem to star in the boxing film Southpaw which uses the boxing world as a parallel to Eminem’s own life. Mr. Mathers will play a welterweight boxer who fights his way to the title, only to see his world crash down around him due to tragedy. The movie is about his fight to reclaim past glory that Eminem opened up about in his last two albums. Movie will be penned by producer/creator of “Sons of Anarchy,” Kurt Sutter.

Sutter states, “At its core, this is a retelling of his struggles over the last five years of his life, using the boxing analogy. I love that the title refers to Marshall being a lefty, which is to boxing what a white rapper is to hip hop; dangerous, unwanted and completely unorthodox. It’s a much harder road for a southpaw than a right handed boxer.”

This will be Eminem’s first major film since 8 Mile.
