Irv Gotti to produce “Entourage” music industry HBO show

Irv Gotti x HBO. Even though Irv’s Murder, Inc. days are well behind him you have to give credit for his hustle. Not only did he lock in a second season of “Gotti’s Way” on VH-1 (trailer), but now he is in talks with HBO to produce an “Entourage” style TV series but with focus on the music business instead of film. The show is tentatively called “160 Varick” which is the origianal Def Jam building.

Irv told XXL Mag that he even has super-agent Ari Emanuel pitching the script and locking in the deal. If that’s true then that is major. Ari owns Hollywood. This is what Irv had to say about the TV deal:

I got a show with HBO brewing and it‚Äôs called 160 Varick. That‚Äôs where I started at, that‚Äôs the address to the old Def Jam. Now the show is like Entourage but it‚Äôs based on the music side. That should tip you off. I‚Äôve already met with the presidents of HBO but I just don‚Äôt like talking about it because it may never see the light of day if it‚Äôs not great the way I want it to be. My agent is Ari, the real Ari, Ari Emannuel. The guy that Jeremy Piven plays on the show, in real life, that‚Äôs my agent. So I‚Äôm in the process of finding the best writers to write the sexiest, wittiest, funniest shit that‚Äôll make a great HBO series.

This sounds like it could actually be a great show. There have only been a few that really explore the music industry and how corrupt interesting it really all is. Props to NahRight for the heads up.

Irv Gotti’s “Gotti’s Way” reality show renewed by VH-1

VH-1 recently announced their Fall 2008 and to the surprise of many, Irv Gotti’s “Gotti’s Way” has been renewed for a second season. Many had assumed the show would only last one season as the appeal of Gotti in the mainstream has all but disappeared.

The new season will focus more on Gotti’s relationship with his wife Deb and their desire to overcome marital troubles. The main theme however will be about Gotti’s goal to get hip-hop out of an alleged “funk” and bring it back to its prominence of the Murder Inc era. “Gotti’s Way: Season 2″ premiere on VH-1 November 3rd. Muuurderrrr.
