Jim Jones does deserve the credit for taking hip-hop to Broadway with his stage play Hip-Hop Monologues: Inside the Life and Mind of Jim Jones (view video clips), rather than own up to the fact he might like stage plays, Jones is instead just saying he is doing it as a potential revenue stream and hopes other rappers follow in his footsteps. Jim Jones recently told the Associated Press:

“Even though when I get on camera you think that (I’m) a crafty individual, but I’m all about the money and whatever it takes for me to get that money, I’m going to master that. I should hope I’ve created a new lane for rappers who are woody enough to complete a task like this to go into a whole other form of revenue.“

If there is money to be made then we should expect a Danity Kayne Broadway production produced by Diddy anytime soon. Followed by a Pimpin Curly musical with 50 Cent.

Jim Jones x Louis Vuitton. I’m pretty sure Jim Jones’ new recording studio that is completley decked out in Louis Vuitton print is not officially endorsed by LV corporate. In fact it looks more like a bunch of Boy Scouts put the studio together for an Eagle Scout project. Check the video and you will see what I’m talking about.

There have been a couple of sneak peak videos floating around for the upcoming Jim Jones documentary This Is Jim Jones. Well here is another one courtesy of King Magazine. Jim Jones x Nostic Apparel. Remember a couple years back when Jim Jones launched his clothing line called Nostic? The entire collection was based on the then popular design of skulls, crossbones and the whole goth rocker/rap look. But now, Jim Jones is back in the lime light with Dame Dash by his side. He has a new track hitting the net with Snoop, he’s on the covers of magazines again..but his clothing line is noticeably absent.

Yea it was only a matter of time before these clips from Jim Jones’ musical got online. You can see the official trailer to the musical here. This new video with clips from the actual musical, including some interesting acting and singing/rapping is compliments of MissInfo.

When I posted the story that Jim Jones was going to make a stage play musical based on his life I got a couple e-mails claiming I was making stuff up (even though it was from AHH). Well now here is all the proof you need. The official trailer to Jim Jones’ stage play musical called “Hip Hop Monologues.” Believe it. Plus, I gotta give props to Jim for his creativity and risk taking on this. Originality in hip-hop is rare these days. At least he is trying something new.

AllHipHop recently revealed that Jim Jones is planning to develop a musical called “The Jim Jones Project” which will be based on his life story. The Off-Broadway production will take place in New York on November 12th and 13th as actors will play out the lyrics to his music. According to an “insider” Jones is “taking his upcoming album and telling his life story via the album and the actors are acting it out as a play to release his album. The upcoming album is the soundtrack to the play.‚Äù

This is either really genius or just straight up loco. Regardless, you gotta give Jimmy some props for thinking outside the box and willing to try something new. Now if only 2 Live Crew would re-enact their first album into a musical.
