Mariah Carey x Precious. Mariah’s film career was elevated leaps and bounds for her performance in Precious. It basically erased any memories of Glitter in the heads of casting agents.

Too bad Mariah embarrasses herself accepting an award while drunk at the Palm Springs International Film Festival which is actually an important film festival. It just starts to get really awkward right when it cuts out. Maybe Nick Cannon saved the day again.

Mariah Carey x NBA. The NBA has enlisted Mariah as the face of their holiday promo spots which run during their annual key Christmas games. Five games in total on ESPN and ABC will feature Mariah prancing around in a Christmas outfit.

Check her out if you are watching any of the Christmas games (Miami vs. NY, Boston vs. Orlando, LeBron vs. Kobe, Clippers vs. Phoenix, Denver vs. Portland). Our bet is Mariah and Nick will be at the Lakers vs. Cavs game.

Mariah Carey x Forever Perfume. Perhaps trying to make up for her less than flattering Forever print ad, Mariah showed up to her Forever Perfume launch appearance at Macy’s looking quite stylish. The Lee Daniels indie film Precious is getting some major buzz as it is officially endorsed by both Oprah and Tyler Perry but what intrigues us at WoooHa is how Daniels was able to transform diva Mariah Carey, who plays a life counselor,  into one ugly chick. We mean that in the most respectful way possible…in fact in an interview with the AP Mariah states the same…

“That was such a freeing experience for me,” Carey says. “By making me look so bad he brought out the ability to never be self-conscious again, and that was a gift that he gave me.” 

And check this…the experience was so freeing for Mariah that she actually let photographers take pictures of her on set from both her right AND left side. Previously, Mariah would only let photographers take her photo from the right side. No joke. I can’t make this up.

The latest Macy’s ad that is currently running on national TV. Pretty easy to see the “urban” influence of the department store with Usher, Mariah and the Queen all making appearances. Where is Diddy though?

Island Def Jam Music Group discovered a new business model where it can integrat brands into artist’s CD booklets. Mariah Carey’s release of Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel which is set for an September 29th release will include a 34 page co production with Elle magazine that includes lifestyle ads from Elizabeth Arden, Angel Champagne, Carmen Steffens, Le Metier de Beaute and the Bahamas Board of Tourism.

The label will be planning deals for artist such as Rihanna, Bon Jovi, Kanye West and others if this experiment goes well.

This is a great and innovative way to acquire capital to help with album budgets and help brands establish themselves in a different market.

The booklets were created for the first run of U.S. CDs (1 million) and the first 500,000 overseas, said Jeff Straughn, svp-strategic marketing for Island Def Jam Music Group. It will also be available in a digital format for those who buy music online. A condensed version of the Mariah mag, sans the 14 pages of CD-specific material, will be inserted into 500,000 subscription copies of Elle’s October issue, which arrives mid-September.

“The idea was really simple thinking: ‘We sell millions of records, so you should advertise with us,’” said  Antonio “L.A.” Reid, chairman, Island Def Jam Music Group, a unit of Universal Music Group. “My artists have substantial circulation—when you sell 2 million, 5 million, 8 million, that’s a lot of eyeballs. Most magazines aren’t as successful as those records.”

Artist been promoting brands for free through word of mouth in their song lyrics its about time they start selling brands ad space on their albums.

Mariah Carey appeared on 106 & Park today to premiere her Obsessed Remix video which will be on her upcoming album Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel. While on air Mariah debut her 3rd fragrance entitled Forever which is an opulent floral with notes of tuberose and gardenia. Developed with company Elizabeth Arden the perfume will be released in September 2009.
