Talks of the much hyped Marvin Gaye biopic have been around the studios for some time and took a turn for the worse when Will Smith originally turned down the role. But now, according to Deadline Hollywood, the project is looking to get back on track with Terrence Howard currently in talks to play the lead.
The film is being put together by Cameron Crowe, most famous for…Almost Famous but he also has the backing a certain key man, Mowtown founder Berry Gordy Jr. who has secured rights to Gaye’s official music.
“Nothing’s been signed on paper yet,” Howard told DHD. “Everybody who loves music will hate me if I get this one wrong.”
We stress that this is still just in “talks” right now but considering Howard’s background as an actual singer, this could be closer to happening than we think.
