The long awaited trailer to the NBA endorsed romantic comedy Just Wright is finally here. Movie stars Common in his first leading role and Queen Latifah. This definitely looks like it could be a sleeper hit with cross-over appeal (no pun intended). Movie hits theaters May 14th. If this does well, you can be sure this won’t be Common’s last leading role. Via: Rap Radar
What does Bruce Willis have to do with hip-hop? Absolutely nothing. Until now. John McClain and Queen Latifah have teamed up to exec produce the documentary The Hip Hop Project which follows a group of New York city teens who overcome all obstacles to record an album together. Russell Simmons also drops some knowledge in the film as well.
It’s already screened at a mess of film festivals and has been getting pretty solid reviews. The Hip Hop Project comes out on DVD January 5th. Yippie Kai Yay.
Queen Latifah x Ford. The Queen has one of the best current running promotions these days with Ford and the 2010 Mustang. The car is prominently featured in her new video “Fast Car” but more important, the money Ford has put behind Latifah is well worth millions in publicity and media dollars. Here is a behind-the-scenes video for the making of “Fast Car.” Plenty of Mustangs galore.
Here is the official music video to Queen Latifah’s “Fast Car.” As we previously reported, as part of Latifah’s partnership with Ford Motor Company, the Mustang is prominently featured in the music video. The Queen might be taking product placement to the next level but at the same time she is getting a nice promotional fee from Ford.
The latest Macy’s ad that is currently running on national TV. Pretty easy to see the “urban” influence of the department store with Usher, Mariah and the Queen all making appearances. Where is Diddy though?
Queen Latifah x Ford Mustang. The Queen has paid her dues in our book to want some of that auto-industry money (although that money is a lot less than it used to be). As part of her partnership with Ford, not only is she pushing the new Ford Mustang on TV ads (shown here), but she is also heavily promoting the Mustang in her music video for the song “Fast Car.”
ET was actually on the set with the Queen where guests such as Common and Cool & Dre and Robin Thicke were also in the racing action. Check the piece and you can clearly see the Ford Mustang branding angle that this video will have. It’s Mustang vs. Mustang on the race track.
Common x Queen Latifah x Just Wright. Here are some shots of Common and Queen Latifah on the set of the upcoming comedy Just Wright. Movie is about a sports trainer (Latifah) who finds herself falling in love with a professional basketball player (Common) while rehabilitating him from a career-threatening injury. Via: C&D

Queen Latifah x Queen Fragrance. Queen Latifah is joining in on the latest urban music artist revenue stream trend with the release of a new scent by Parlux Fragrances. Queen by Queen Latifah ‚Äî featuring hints of mandarin, jasmine, cognac, Moroccan coriander, and Egyptian ‚Äî will hit stores in August and runs at $49. No word yet on distribution or marketing but I’m pretty sure Macy’s will come into play.
“Beauty really does start on the inside. It’s like a state of mind, a state of love, if you will. So I see a fragrance as just a natural expression of this state of love: Scent expresses a woman’s confidence and sensuality, it’s how she embraces her body, her mind and her strength,” the Queen said in a statement.
Here is a shot of the perfume compliments of the Crunch.

Queen Latifah x Sesame Street. The Queen will be making an appearance in an upcoming special episode of “Sesame Street” on April 1st. The episode, called Coming Home: Military Families Cope With Change, will also feature John Mayer and Elmo and deals with the issue of service members who return home with injuries and how they cope with returning home. It’s a personal issue for Latifah as her own father had to face similar issues when returning from war. Via: CL

According to People Magazine, Queen Latifah has extended her contract as a spokesperson for weight-loss company Jenny Craig. Deal calls for a one year extension which includes the Queen being featured in print and TV ads and also telling her own “testimony” of how Jenny Craig helped her lose 20 lbs last year.
“We are proud of Queen Latifah’s achievements and are excited to continue the relationship,” Scott Parker, vice president of marketing for Jenny Craig, told People. “Queen Latifah embodies the healthy lifestyle principles and character that Jenny Craig stands for and we look forward to another great year.”
